Noah's Flood Chronology: Day by Day

NOAH'S FLOOD CHRONOLOGY; DAY BY DAY

The chronology of Genesis 7 and 8 shows us the Creator left us a celestial timepiece of two interwoven years; the lunar, which has 354 days, and the solar, which has 365 days. These two timepieces must work in harmony to find the appropriate time for meeting with IAUA.

In order to better understand the chronology of the flood, as well as the lunar-solar calendar, I've created a simpler graphical representation showing the flood chronology DAY BY DAY.

The chart simplifies the counting of days of the flood scenario; 40 days of rain, 150 days of the flooded earth, 30 days of the waters decreasing until mountain tops seen, 40 days of waiting, 21 days of sending forth messengers, 28 days until the beginning of the next year (Noah's 601st year), and the final 56 days until the 27th day of the second month of the following year.

In this chart, you will see alternating 29 and 30 day months, to compensate for the 29.53 days of the lunar cycle. Six of the months have 29 days, and six of the months have 30 days. The reason that specific dates in months are given, is to show where the period of days is anchored. For instance, the 1st day of the tenth month shows where to anchor the 40 day period that Noah waited for the water to decrease.

Proponents of the 30 day month, 360 day year will find an inherent problem trying to reconcile the the 360 day year with the chronology of the flood.

The entire flood period, from the 17th day of the 2nd month, at the beginning of the flood, until the 27th day of the 2nd month the following year, is a period of 365 solar days, which includes 354 lunar days. The flood chronology accounts for the difference of 11 days between the two calendars, the lunar and solar.

If you add in the additional 30th day in the other six months, the result will be a 371 day solar year.

Noah’s Flood: A Lunar Event Occurring in Solar Time

In the 600th year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month—on this day, all the fountains of the great deep broke open and the windows of the heaven were opened… And the waters of the Flood were upon the earth…
In the 601st year… on the twenty-seventh day of the second month, the earth dried. Genesis 7:10-11; ibid. 8:13-14

The discrepancy between these two dates] represents the eleven days which the solar year is greater than the lunar year; hence the Flood lasted a complete year.

Noah’s Flood commenced on the 17th of Cheshvan, and ended on Cheshvan 27 of the following year.

The biblical commentaries explain that the Flood lasted exactly one year, and that the 11-day discrepancy in the dates represents the 11-day difference between the solar and lunar years.

This reflects the fact that different components of the calendar are based on a variety of natural cycles which do not easily lend themselves to synchronization. The month derives from the moon’s 29.5 day orbit of the earth; the year, from the 365-day solar cycle. The problem is that 12 lunar months add up to 354 days—eleven days short of the solar year.

Most calendars deal with this discrepancy by simply ignoring one or the other celestial timekeepers. For example, the Gregorian Calendar (which has attained near-universal status) is completely solar based. Its 365 days are divided into 12 segments of 30 or 31 days, but these “months” have lost all connection with their original association with the moon. There are also calendars (such as the Moslem Calendar) which are exclusively lunar-based, with months that are faithfully attuned to the phases of the moon. Twelve such months are regarded as a year, but these “years” bear no relation to the solar cycle (a given date in such a calendar will, in certain years, fall in the midst of summer and, in other years, in the dead of winter).

The Jewish calendar is unique in that it reconciles the solar and lunar time-streams. By employing a complex 19-year cycle in which months alternate between 29 and 30 days and years alternate between 12 and 13 months, the Jewish calendar sets its months by the moon, and its years by the sun, combining lunar time and solar time into a single system while preserving the integrity of each.

It appears that I have a slight miscalculation in this month's calendar that needs to be corrected. Instead of a 30th day, September 28 will actually be New Moon Day, Day of Trumpets. The alignment of the days and hours of the moon will work out much better this way for the 7th month.

Unsealing the Seven Thunders of Revelation 10

"And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not." Rev 10:4

Over 165 years ago, John the Revelator was commanded by a "voice from heaven" to seal up what the seven thunders uttered. The seven thunders were going to tell us something, or give us information that is probably key to understanding the end times prophesied in the scriptures. We might expect that the messages of the seven thunders would be revealed near the end of earth's 6000 year history, just before the final crisis and the tribulation.

Several months ago, I was prompted to explore the meaning of thunders in scripture, to determine what they were, when they were heard or observed, and to see what messages they might hold for us in these times. This project turned out to be far more encompassing than I expected.

Adventist readers will find startling similarities to the Advent movement, beginning with the Millerites and the Seventh Month Movement of the 1840's, to the history of the Israelites as they left Egypt and wandered for 40 years in the wilderness, before finally coming into the land set aside for them by God. The mystery is this; if the Israelites eventually entered the promised land, and Messiah "should have come ere this," why are we still here?

For non-Seventh Day Adventist readers, some of this may be a bit off-putting for you, so I wanted you to know this in advance. I wanted to share it with you nevertheless. What I found in researching and writing this paper, is a remarkable parallel to Adventist history, beginning with the Millerite's seventh month movement of the early 1840's. You will find pertinent references in the writings of Ellen G. White, as well as other related references, to support the entire premise of this paper.

The sad part of this scenario is that Jesus should have come to this earth to claim his people, you and I, over 120 years ago. So we must ask, why are we still here? We have to be willing to examine every aspect of scripture to see what it is we're missing. Is it simply that we are unwilling to go with Him? Or have we become so comfortable in our pews that we no longer have the desire or the willingness to follow Him.

This paper explores what is likely missing from our experience and our journey. It highlights what has been left out of the larger picture. There is so much more missing than we are aware, and many of us are almost clueless.

Essentially, this paper is about two things. First, it is about the prophecy of Malachi 4 that Ellen White reminded us of, and it's end time emphasis. "Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Mal 4:4
Second, it is about a time of restitution and restoration. "In the time of the end, every divine institution is to be restored. The breach made in the law at the time the Sabbath was changed by man, is to be repaired." Prophets and Kings 678

This paper explores what has been left out, forgotten, or obscured, and what it is that needs to be restored, before Jesus will return to claim His own.

Moses and the gregorian calendar: Irony or Coincidence

What do Moses and the papal gregorian calendar have in common?

First, let’s look at The Exodus, as Moses led the Israelites from captivity in Egypt. Then we’ll look at the commonality with the captivity and the gregorian calendar.

The day the Israelites left Egypt apparently is a very special day to IAUA, our creator. That day, the 15th day of the first month of the biblical sacred year, is the day of some very significant events in biblical history.

Num_33:3 And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the Passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.

To begin with, the 15^th day of the 1^st month is the exact same day that the Israelites went into captivity, 430 years earlier. Scripture uses the term “selfsame” day to identify that this day was in fact the same day they went into captivity; and the same day they came out.

Exo 12:41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.

Now, let’s look at some interesting facts about the gregorian calendar.

From Wikipedia, under the heading “gregorian calendar,” we find this information:

The Gregorian calendar, also known as the Western calendar, or Christian calendar, is the internationally accepted civil calendar.^[1][2][3] It was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII, after whom the calendar was named, by a decree signed on 24 February 1582, a papal bull known by its opening words Inter gravissimas.^[4] The reformed calendar was adopted later that year by a handful of countries, with other countries adopting it over the following centuries.

This is but a small bit of information at Wikipedia on the gregorian calendar but it is this piece of information that we’re interested in for this comparison. NOTE: This is not an attempt at time-setting, predicting or prophesying that anything is going to happen in coincidence according to this information.

This is where it gets interesting. If you add 430 years, the length of the captivity of the Israelites, to the year 1582, the year of the decree enacting the gregorian calendar, the result is the year 2012. In addition, the day the decree was enacted, February 24, will fall on new moon day in the last month of the biblical year 2011-2012.

Now, is anything going to happen around that time, the spring of 2012? There certainly is a lot of hype going on about the year 2012, but mostly related to the end of the Mayan calendar on December 21, 2012. And the things we seeing happening in the world currently, suggest that we are probably on the edge of some cataclysmic events.

Have we been captive to a papal gregorian calendar for 430 years? The questions that surface out of this scenario certainly suggest that the timeframes involved could have some meaning. Should we be alert to possible events unfolding sometime in the spring of 2012, around February 24? Most assuredly. It’s for certain we will be looking for the visible crescent the evening of the 23^rd, beginning of the 24^th biblical day.

So keep your eyes to the skies and the heavens. We are no longer looking for the signs of the times; we are living in the times of the signs.

What is the name of God

The Name of God

Many of us have heard or seen the name of God spoken or written various ways, depending on the source. Some of the names that are used are; God, Elohim, Lord, YHWH, Yahweh, El Shaddai, Adonai, Jehovah (in many forms), and many others as well.

As a result of seeing all these different names for God, it can be quite confusing at times. Which one is correct? And how do we know. Particularly in view of the mounting evidence that the names of God, as well as other assorted things in scripture have been altered innocently or deliberately by the scribes and translators. So let’s explore the name of God with what might be some new information to you. It was new to me recently and turned out to be quite insightful. It is to this day, the clearest explanations I have seen for the name of God, taken from the original language.

God does have a name, and He wants us to know it and use it. His proper name has been removed from nearly all of scripture today, and is supplanted with words like God, Elohim, Lord, etc.

The following text is excerpted from a book by Richard Ruhling, titled The Earthquake and the 7 Seals. I am indebted to Richard for this revealing information.

Proverbs 30:4 asks, “What is His name?” These words reflect our need to know. Josephus, a Jewish historian at the time of Jerusalem’s destruction, gives us a major clue. He describes the high priest’s golden crown, “in which was engraven the sacred name [of God]...It consists of four vowels” Wars of the Jews, Book 5, Chapter 5, Section 7.

Some modern authorities agree. “The letters of the Name of God in Hebrew are yod, hay, vav, and hay. They are frequently mispronounced Yahveh ...[but] they are all vowels.” Rabbi Lawrence Kushner, The Book of Words, Jewish Lights Publ, p. 27.

Some say those letters are consonants, but a renowned Hebrew textbook says, “Long before the introduction of vowel-signs, it was felt that the main vowel-sounds should be indicated in writing, and so the three letters, yothe, hay, waw, were used to represent long vowels” A Practical Grammar for Classical Hebrew, Weingreen, Oxford University Press, 1959, p. 7-8. God’s name is spelled yod, hay, waw [vav], hay.

The above three sources all support God’s name as four vowels. His name is said to be glorious. Psalm 96:8 How?

One reason is because of the meaning of the Hebrew letters—yod, hay and vav that compose it.

The yod is the first letter of God’s name. It is the smallest Hebrew letter and it looks like an apostrophe. As a vowel it has the sound of “i” in Gloria and it means hand as in giving, receiving or ownership.
The second letter of God’s name is the hay which sounds like “ah” and it represents light or rain.
The third letter is the vav and as a vowel sounds like “oo” in tooth. It looks like a concrete nail and has the meaning of nail or hook.

The meanings of the letters suggest they are the initials of the Father (Genesis 22:8), Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:2), and the Son Psalm 2:12; Isaiah 53:4-7. God’s name is glorious for its meaning depicting the role of Father with an outstretched hand, the Holy Spirit as light to guide us and the Son nailed for us on the cross.

The best of Hebrew transliterates Josephus’ statement of God’s name (“four vowels”) as IAUA. “I” has the international “I” sound as in Gloria. [Phonetically IAUA is ee’-ah-oo”-ah.]

This may be one reason the Jews “profaned” it--to avoid the heathen mocking it or laughing at them because it is so different. But you wouldn’t want God to have a name like Tom, Dick or Harry; His name must be different. The reason you might see it written as YHWH, or YAHWEH, is because phonetically, they sound very much the same.

Consonants [like b, d, k, or m] are made by obstruction of air flow. God’s name has no obstruction like our names or characters have. His name and His character are all flow and melody. And the vowel tones are pure [not diphthongs like ah-ee = I. This reminds us of His apocalyptic promise—“then will I turn the people to a pure language [margin says lip] that they may all call upon the name of IAUA.” Zephaniah 3:9.

The first two letters (IA= ee-ah) were part of many Hebrew names—the prophets often came in God’s name like JeremIA or ZecharIA, and we should pronounce the “i” like “ee” as they do in most countries. Elijah was pronounced “el-ee-ah,” because there is no J in Hebrew. So Elia means El [short form of Elohim, meaning God] is IA. Women named Maria or Gloria have the short poetic form of God’s name (IA) as part of their name. Countries like SyrIA or SamarIA also have God’s name as part of theirs.

HalleluIA is an international word meaning “Praise IA” in most languages. You can read this short form of God’s name in Psalm 68:4, except translators supplanted the Hebrew yod with “J” making it “Jah,” where it should be IA [ee-ah].

Before the second coming, “Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.” Matthew 17:11. Since God’s name means salvation, it stands to reason that His name will also be restored to it’s rightful place in the end time. It is our privilege to share in this work of Elijah.

It is my belief that God’s sacred name, which is IAUA, is now being restored to it’s rightful place, in our minds and our hearts.

Examining the Count to Pentecost During the Exodus

This graphic has been modified from the original to demonstrate whether the Count to Pentecost should be considered during the Exodus scenario. Due to the lack of clear instruction in Exodus 12 thru Exodus 19 and the arrival of the Israelites at Mt Sinai, it appears the count to Pentecost should not even be considered in this scenario.

NOTE: This chart has been revised, due to additional insights into the chronology. Factors which prompt revision are: (1) There are no instructions in Exodus for a wave sheaf at or during the exodus; (2) The crops were all destroyed before the exodus, including the barley, so there was no wave sheaf available to wave; (3) Passover and ULB were apparently the only feasts set to be observed during the 40 years in the wilderness; (4) all other feasts have the instruction, "when you come into the land which IAUA will give to you," and "which thou has sown in the field." (5) Since they entered the promised land in the 1st month of the 41st year from leaving Egypt, the Israelites would have to have planted spring wheat (110-120 days to maturity) in the spring of the year they entered Canaan. It would have been the only wheat harvest available in the 1st year in the promised land. Harvest of that spring wheat would have come at the end of the 4th month. (6) There would have been no winter wheat, which has to be planted in the fall, in order to harvest sometime around early June, early in the 3rd biblical month.

Midnight in the Calendar Wars

Since Saturday Sabbath keepers observe their Sabbath by pointing to the roman gregorian calendar for the day, why don’t they observe time by the same calendar? Saturday on the roman gregorian calendar begins, and ends, at midnight; midnight to midnight. Period.

Since most, if not all, Saturday Sabbath keepers begin their Sabbath the night before at sunset Friday, they are actually keeping their Sabbath partially on Friday and partially on Saturday; according to the calendar they are using.

So they, Saturday Sabbath keepers, are not actually keeping Sabbath on the 7^th day of the week at all. At least not all of it. They are keeping it partially on the 6^th day, or preparation day (of their calendar), and only partially on the 7^th day. This according to the calendar they claim they are keeping Sabbath on.

Let’s follow up this thought about part of one day and part of another. Saturday Sabbath keepers, by observing sunset to sunset of the biblical Hebrew day, are actually beginning their “Sabbath” on one calendar, the lunisolar calendar of scripture, and ending their Sabbath on another calendar, the roman gregorian. It is the blending of more than one system, in several ways. But there is a catch here. If the Saturday Sabbath keepers are ending their 7^th day Sabbath at sundown Saturday, they are not fully keeping the full Saturday Sabbath, which according to the calendar they are using, would not end until midnight Saturday.

The only apparent solution for this seemingly sticky problem, is not only to observe the correct biblical calendar, but to observe the correct Sabbath day as well; the one the Creator has outlined in His word.

Will the traditional Count to Pentecost stand up to scrutiny?

True Count to Pentecost: Questions that must be answered

Questions that need to be answered if the traditional count to Pentecost is to be upheld.

When did the Israelites arrive at Mt Sinai?

According to scripture the Israelites arrived on the 15^th day of the 3^rd month. This is 7 days after the traditional count to Pentecost, on Sivan 9. Why would they arrive at Mt Sinai to receive the law after the time when the giving of the law is allegedly related to? Moses is called before YHWH on the 16^th day, to have the people prepare themselves for the verbal giving of the law. (Jubilees 1:1) Granted the law, including the 10 commandments, is verbalized by YHWH on the 18^th day of the 3^rd month, but this is still after the fact, now 10 days after the traditional Pentecost of Sivan 9. Because of being pinpointed on the 1^st day of the 2^nd week, this does not make the 9^th day of the 3^rd month very specifically related to anything.

No Feast mentioned during the third month in Exodus

If the traditional Pentecost count is the 9^th day of the 3^rd month, why is there no mention of the word “feast” or “chag” around that time in Exodus 16-19, but there is mention of “feast” 50 days later from Sivan in Exodus 32? The feast mentioned in Ex 32 is at the very end of the 4^th month, when Aaron declares a feast, and when Moses comes down from the mount after 40 days. with the tables of the testimony. (NOTE: chag, ḥag̱: H2282. A noun meaning a feast, a festival. This word is used numerous times throughout the Old Testament referring to the feasts of the Hebrew religious calendar. It is used of the major feasts, including the Feast of Unleavened Bread and the Passover Feast, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles. Complete Word Study H2282)

What happened to the wheat in the “plague of hail.”

Exodus 9:18-35 says this about the wheat. The plague of hail smote every herb of the field, broke every tree. Flax and barley were smitten; wheat and rye were not smitten, for they were not grown up (not out of the ground). Winter wheat would have been destroyed; spring wheat had not yet been planted. So if there is no wheat harmed by the hail, what is the wheat that is supposed to be harvested around Sivan 9, just a little over two months or so later?

What is the wheat that was supposed to be harvested in the 3^rd month?

Winter wheat is planted in the fall, takes 7 months to harvest, would have been ready in the 3^rd month, were it not for the hail. By the time of the hail, about 4 months or so into the growth cycle, winter wheat would have been substantially out of the ground, that it would have been destroyed during the plague of hail. At the time of the hail, it was nearing the planting time of the spring wheat, which planted in the first week or so of Nisan, would be harvested in 4 months, 110-120 day to maturity.

Is Pentecost related to the giving of the law?

It is said that Pentecost is related to the giving of the law. If this is the case, why isn’t the giving of the law in Exodus mentioned around the first week of the 3^rd month, the time of the traditional Pentecost of the 9^th day of the 3^rd month? Granted, the law was spoken from the mount by YHWH on the 18^th day of the 3^rd month, but there is no mention of a feast here. Why is there no mention of a feast, if Pentecost is related to the giving of the law?

When was the law on the tables of stone given?

Although the law was spoken on the 18^th day of the 3^rd month (third day after arrival at the mount) , Moses doesn’t come down from the mount with the tables of stone until 41 days after the law is spoken. He goes up the mount on the 19^th day of the 3^rd month, to begin the 40 days, and doesn’t come down until the 29^th day of the 4^th month, the day Aaron declared a feast (chag).

How many died; how many saved

Acts 2:41 states that 3000 souls were saved on the day of Pentecost in the NT. In the Old Testament, that same identical number is used to declare that 3000 souls were lost or died. (Exodus 32) When did this happen. It happened on the day Moses came down from the mount with the tables of stone; at the very end of the 4^th month, on the 29^th day, ironically, 50 days from the end of the seven Sabbaths complete. There is no mention of 3000 dying in the early 3^rd month, at the time of the traditional Pentecost. Is this number just coincidental, while occurring at the same feast time in the OT and NT?

When was the healing of the paralytic in the NT?

In John 5, we have the account of Jesus healing the paralytic on the Sabbath and then being confronted by the Pharisees for doing so. When did this occur. A close read of John 5 will reveal that this occurred during a feast, one of the 3 annual chags. This appears to be after the time of Jesus first appearance in the temple, around Passover, so it is a bit later in the year, at a feast, (chag) which is very likely Pentecost. Passover is earlier during the year John 2:13, and Tabernacles later, John 7:2. Notice that the healing of the paralytic took place on a Sabbath, which pinpoints it on the 29^th day of the 4^th month, the same day Moses came down from the mount with the tables of stone.

Is the traditional Pentecost on a Sabbath?

Why does the traditional count of Pentecost not correlate with the rest of the annual feasts, which have Sabbaths as part of the theme? If we follow the count of the days and periods of time in Exodus 12 through 32, we find that the count will pinpoint the 29^th day of the 4^th month, a Sabbath. The traditional count to Pentecost bring us out on the 1^st day of the 1^st week of the 3^rd month, which appears to have no scriptural significance to the rest of the annual feast plan.

Where is the 50 day count applied?

If the 50 days is from Nisan 16 to Sivan 9, where is the mention of Pentecost in Exodus at the corresponding time? (somewhere between Exodus 16 and 19) Leviticus says to count these days, but it is unclear where the count is anchored and there is confusion where the 50 days is counted from. If we look in Exodus 12 through 32, and follow the count, we find that “coincidentally” there is 50 days from the end of the seven Sabbaths complete to the end of the 4^th month on the 29^th day, were a “feast” is mentioned. Could this be more than just coincidence.

Where does Ellen White place the wheat harvest of Pentecost

Ellen White uses the terms springtime, midsummer, and autumn to describe the times of the three annual feasts. Midsummer is not in the springtime, during the 1^st week or so of the 3^rd month, usually in early June. Midsummer could be described as sometime during July and August, more likely midsummer.

“But three times a year seasons were appointed for social intercourse and worship. The journey to Jerusalem, in the simple, patriarchal style, took place amidst the beauty of the springtime, the richness of midsummer, or the ripened glory of autumn.” Compiled from Educ pgs 41-42 EGW

Although much confusion and controversy continues regarding the count to Pentecost, there are some serious questions and problems with the traditional count that need to be addressed. There are issues that are not easily resolved with the traditional count, whereas the pieces of the puzzle seem to fit together much better with a count that ends at the very end of the 4^th month. So lets settle in, knuckle under, and let YHWH’s spirit lead in this matter. Let the scriptures, all the related ones, speak for themselves.

Notes regarding this months calendar:Even though the Count to Pentecost is still under study and review, this months calendar shows the full count as reviewed, on the 29th day of the 4th month, the last Shabbat of the 4th month.

You will also note the small blue numbers in the upper right corners of each day. These are the counting of the 50 days from the Feast of Weeks at the end of "Seven Sabbaths complete," which ends on the 8th day of the 3rd month, the Shabbat of the 8th day of the month.

When you count 7 Sabbaths complete, from the Wave Sheaf on the 16th day of the 1st month, then count and add 50 days to the 7 Sabbaths complete, the total is 99 days (49 and 50) and ends the count on the 28th day of the 4th month, the next day being the feast (chag)

Count to Pentecost: Re-Examined

It's not where we think!

After a reasonably thorough study of the count to Pentecost, or the count to the Feast of Weeks, it is my conclusion that Pentecost is not where we have traditionally pinpointed it and kept it, in the 3rd month (Sivan), on the 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th day, depending on whose rules you used and how you do the count.

This count, and the day it results on, using the traditional count, have never made much sense to me, as it doesn't occur on a day of any significance other than the first day of the week, the day following "seven Sabbaths complete." So these seemingly insignificant points have kept me troubled until I set about to study it out to conviction.

Another contradiction in the count has to do with the calendar you use. If you don't use the correct calendar, the lunar-solar calendar of scripture, you won't find the correct day. Here's is what I've found. And I reserve the right to be corrected if necessary.

When is the REAL Pentecost?

Pentecost is actually found on the 29th day of the 4th month, a Shabbat; the last Shabbat of the 4th month. This is the day that Aaron declared in Exodus 32:5, that "tomorrow is a feast." He made this declaration on the day before the feast, the 28th day of the 4th month, the day that the "count 50 days" ends. This word feast, is "chag," one of the 3 appointed feasts of the year that all were supposed to appear before YHWH. Since the Feast of ULB occurred when they left Egypt, and the Feast of Tabernacles is yet in the fall, that leaves only one other Feast this could be; the Feast of Weeks, or Pentecost.

In order to determine the correct count, there are several things that have to be examined. First is the count of the days that are mentioned in Exodus, beginning in Chapter 19, on the day the Israelites arrived at the mount. One needs to pay close attention to the days that are numbered and listed there, including the 40 days and 40 nights that Moses was in the mount. Some of these days mentioned are very subtle and can be easily missed.

There are other factors involved in the correct count to Pentecost, including the "agricultural" aspect, which Yah's entire feast calendar plan is based on. There is also a correlation between the number of 3000 souls that died on the same day as there were 3000 saved in the New Testament.

I will be working on a paper to post here, detailing this re-examined count to Pentecost, so I won't go into a lot of detail right now. I would encourage each of you reading this to begin this study for yourselves. Begin reading at Exodus chapter 19, and read through chapter 32. You may want to skip over the instructions for all the commandments, statutes, judgments, etc, if you are in a hurry to find just the count.

And, next months calendar will reflect Pentecost on the day that is pinpointed in scripture.

This calendar was revised on Jun 28 2011 to show 30 days in the 3rd month. Although Pentecost has been studied and found to be in the 4th month, it is left in place here in the traditionally understood date.

Further Evidence Disproves Continuous Weekly Cycle

True 7^th Day Sabbath Not Found On Saturday

(Clue: It’s about more than just the street where you live)

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that the claim the 7th Day Sabbath as Saturday on the Gregorian calendar has never been changed or tampered with, is false. Situations exist today that cannot be explained away by the traditional reasoning. This paper will not deal with the usual arguments and hypothetical situations that have already been made regarding the International Date Line.

Is Saturday the true 7^th Day Sabbath?

Seventh Day Sabbatarians believe that the 7^th Day Sabbath is pinpointed on Saturday, the 7^th day of the planetary week, on the papal gregorian calendar. They contend that Saturday is the seventh day of the week, and has been since the creation week, when God rested on the 7^th day. Is this the case, and has it always been that way?

Saturday Sabbatarians contend that the present weekly cycle has never been altered, and to make their case, one single historical record is offered regarding the calendar change. This statement is found on the Seventh Day Adventist website;

“A change [to the old Julian Calendar] was recommended by astronomers and made at the time that Gregory XIII was the pope, and so the corrected calendar with its “leap year” was called the Gregorian calendar. It began to function on Friday, the 5th of October, 1582. Friday the 5th was changed to Friday the 15th . So that particular month was ten days shorter, but the length of its weeks was not affected. This is due to the simple fact that the number of days in the month or in the year has nothing to do with the number of days in the week. Thus the weekly cycle was not affected in any way.”

The Seventh Day Adventist Website argues that their Saturday Sabbath is the true Sabbath and the same Sabbath which the Jews observed through all ages. They further argue that Jesus himself observed the Saturday Sabbath and all those before him: “Our heavenly Father has given us more than written proof of the permanence of the Weekly Cycle and the Seventh-day Sabbath. He has given us living proof: The Jewish race…It has been 3400 years since the time that God gave them manna in the wilderness and told them to carefully keep each Seventh-day Sabbath when no manna fell. But all during those long centuries since then, they have observed God’s Sabbath, week after week, month after month, year after year, century after century. Ask any Jewish acquaintance what day is the Sabbath. He will tell you that it is Saturday, the Seventh day. Orthodox Jews scattered throughout the world have kept strict record of time. They have carefully observed the Seventh-day Sabbath throughout the ages. The existence and testimony of the Jewish race is alone enough to settle the matter. It is the most amazing and conclusive means of knowing the ancient Sabbath of Jesus and earlier times. There is no doubt that the God of heaven has carefully guarded the day that He sanctified and blessed at Creation. We have no excuse for not keeping it holy as He commanded.”

Other sources as well, make similar statements;

B.L. Cocherell in his article The Sabbath and the Calendar: Lunar or Solar makes this remarkable claim without giving evidence to substantiate his statement: "The weekly cycle, as well as knowledge of what day is the seventh day of the week, has been preserved by Catholics, Protestants, Moslems, and Jews, without change since the time of Christ to this day. The Sabbath was indeed from Friday evening to Saturday evening (on today's calendar), both then and now.”

Claus Tondering on his Website makes the following remark concerning the 7-day weekly cycle: “There is no record of the 7-day week cycle ever having been broken. Calendar changes and reform have never interrupted the 7-day cycles. It is very likely that the week cycles have run uninterrupted at least since the days of Moses [c. 1400 BC], and possibly even longer.” http://www.tondering.dk/main/index.php

Yisrayl Hawkins [the chief overseer of the House of Yahweh] concludes that the weekly cycle has never been altered anywhere or at any time since the beginning of time.

In his book THE SABBATH - Every Question Answered, on pp. 15-16 Hawkins writes: “By the year 1582 c.e. the “Julian Calendar” [established in 46 b.c.e.], which was still in use at this late date, had drifted TEN DAYS out of synchronization with the seasons; the spring equinox falling on March 11 instead of March 21 [as it had when the Julian Calendar was first initiated].

It was enacted by Pope Gregory that TEN DAYS be “DROPPED” from the Calendar. Thus, when Gregory XIII “reformed” the Julian Calendar in 1582 - “THURSDAY”, October 4 was immediately followed by “FRIDAY”, October 15! Even though TEN DAYS were dropped from this Calendar - THE ORDER OF DAYS in this WEEK was NOT INTERRUPTED! No day had been lost at all - only the “date” had been “changed”…Therefore “NO TIME HAD BEEN LOST” DURING ANY OF THE CALENDAR REFORMS TO THIS DAY [Feb. 1992]. Yahweh’s Sabbath is on the SEVENTH DAY OF EACH WEEK, JUST AS IT HAS BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING.”

Hawkins, just like many other Saturday Sabbath observers vigorously argue that the Sabbath they observe was NEVER AFFECTED BY ANY CALENDAR CHANGES AND REFORMS THROUGHOUT HISTORY. But to prove their argument they always only refer to the change and reform which took place in the Gregorian calendar.

In this paper, we will clearly demonstrate and document the fact that the weekly cycle and the days of the week were actually altered and confused. This fact proves that Hawkins, Adventists and all others who claim that the weekly cycle was never altered are either ignorant of the true historical facts or else they are skilful deceivers.

What is the Truth?

The truth is, all of this is a smoke screen. No one seems to be able to produce the “record” that the Jews have kept, and how they have kept it. This “record” would have to have been kept for about 3500 years now, to make sure that Saturday would always be in the 7^th day position on the papal gregorian calendar, even though several different calendars have been used over the centuries. One much search calendar history much further back than a little over 400 years.

In addition, Saturday as the 7^th Day Sabbath, cannot be explained and proven from the scriptures, God’s Word. This is irrefutable and the challenge is offered to anyone to prove it.

The purpose of this paper is not to explore the history of the calendar back to the time of Moses. The purpose is to show that the calendar has been altered historically, and more recently in modern times. If this can be demonstrated, it questions the authenticity of statements that claim the 7^th day Saturday Sabbath has never been altered in any way.

Samoa and Australia

Prior to 1892 the people of Samoa observed the weekly cycle in conjunction with the people of Australia. But in 1892 the King of Samoa decreed that the weekly cycle of Samoa be changed and adjusted so that it would coincide with the weekly cycle of America.

King Malietoa Laupepa of Samoa decreed that Monday the 4th of July [US Independence Day] be the day on which the weekly cycle would be changed. Thus Monday of the 4th of July in 1892 by the imperial decree continued on the 5th of July as well so that the weekly cycle of Samoa could be adjusted and made to coincide with the weekly cycle of America.

Margaret Isabella [Balfour] Stevenson [1829-1897], the mother of the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson [1850-1894] who had settled in Samoa in 1890, described the occurrence of the “second 4th July, 1892” in her Letters From Samoa: “…in former days communication was entirely with Australia, and it was simpler and in every way more natural to follow the Australian calendar; but now that so many vessels come from San Francisco, the powers have decided to set things right and to adopt the date that belongs to our actual geographical position. To this end, therefore, WE ARE ORDERED TO KEEP TWO MONDAYS IN THIS WEEK, which will get us straight.”

Two Mondays: The 4th of July in 1892 was Monday. The next day, the 5th, was meant to be Tuesday. But by the imperial decree of King Laupepa, the 5th of July was made to be Monday again. Thus the 6th of July became Tuesday instead of Wednesday - as it would have been if there was no imperial intervention in the former weekly cycle.

Please note below where the Saturday Sabbath would have fallen if there was no change in the weekly cycle and where it fell after the change was implemented:

This imperial decree of King Laupepa in 1892 clearly altered the weekly cycle and therefore the SATURDAY SABBATH for all those who observed it in Samoa. From then on they observed the Saturday Sabbath actually on FRIDAY - since Monday was made to repeat itself in that weekly cycle. This is a historical fact. How then can Saturday Sabbatarians repeatedly say that the Saturday Sabbath and the weekly cycle was never confused anywhere? They are either ignorant of this fact or they know it but are trying to hide the facts.

Philippines

December 31^st 1844-The Day No Filipinos Were Born

Until the early 1840’s, the Philippine Islands were observing the weekly cycle of then Spanish America. But after their trade significantly increased with China, Malay Peninsula, the Dutch East Indies and Australia, the Philippine authorities decided to abolish the weekly cycle of the then Spanish America and instead implement the weekly cycle of Asia. This was achieved in 1844 [the very year Adventists expected Jesus to return] when Narciso Claveria, the governor general of the Philippines, issued a proclamation announcing that Monday 30th December 1844, was to be immediately followed by Wednesday, 1st January 1845.

Thus those who formerly observed their Sabbath on Saturday were from then on in fact observing their Sabbath on a Sunday. This is an irrefutable fact, since the day Tuesday was altogether dropped from the old weekly cycle. Therefore those who claim that the weekly cycle was never tampered with and that the current weekly cycle runs consecutively since the beginning of time are deluded and do not know what they are talking about.

Alaska and Russia

Prior to 1867 Alaska belonged to Russia. Russia at that time still observed the Julian calendar which was 12 days behind the Gregorian calendar. The neighboring Canadians on the other hand observed the Gregorian calendar and the American weekly cycle. But when Alaska was sold by Russians to the Americans, the change to the American mode of time reckoning was put into effect by the governmental decree.

In this case two things had to be done in order to reconcile the European week of Russia - observing the Julian calendar - with the weekly cycle of America. Twelve days first of all had to be dropped from the calendar and one day of the week had to repeat itself in its weekly cycle. This was accomplished on Friday the 6th October 1867. People who went to sleep the night of Friday, October 6, woke up in the morning to find out that it was then Friday, October 18. This imperial decree actually transferred the Saturday Sabbath to Friday - since the day Friday was made to repeat itself in that weekly cycle. Thus the Sabbatarians had their Sabbath altered in the weekly cycle by a deliberate reform and the change of the week.

Kiribati

The most recent deliberate reform and the change of the weekly cycle took place in Kiribati in 1995. Kiribati is an independent nation located on islands in the central Pacific ocean. The nation gained its independence on July 12, 1979 and is the member of the British Commonwealth. Prior to 1995 the western part of the republic was always 24 hours ahead of its eastern part, and there were only four days in each week when official business could be conducted between the two parts of the republic. To put an end to this situation, Teburoro Tito, the president of Kiribati, announced on January 1, 1995 the IDL would henceforth run along the many-cornered eastern boundary of the republic. Thus the weekly cycle in Kiribati was altered and changed as recently as 1995 and therefore the Sabbatarians who now observe the Sabbath in that region keep their Sabbath on what formerly was called Friday.

Prior to 1995, the Sabbatarians in Kiribati and Hawaii observed the same Sabbath and on the same date. After the IDL was moved as far east as 150 degrees and therefore further than Honolulu, the Sabbatarians in Kiribati now observe their Sabbath a day earlier than those in Hawaii.

If these changes do not constitute the change and alteration of the weekly cycle and if they do not prove that the weekly cycle since creation was not everywhere preserved in its original form - then I don’t know what does. Therefore all those who believe that this current 7-day planetary week was always observed by the Jews are simply deluded and gravely mistaken. Likewise, all those who insist that the weekly cycle of creation was never tampered with nor the days of the week mixed and confused are either ignorant of the true historical facts or are simply guilty of bearing false witness.

Soviet Union: Fiasco of the 5 and 6 Day Week Calendar

Will the Real 7^th Day Sabbath Stand Up?

In the late 1920’s and early 1930’s, the USSR made several changes to their calendar, attempting to facilitate better productivity from the workforce. Between 1929 and 1931, the USSR changed from the 7-day week to a 5-day week. There were 72 weeks and an additional five national holidays inserted within three of them totaling a year of 365 days.

In 1931 after the Soviet Union's 5-day week they changed to a 6-day week. Every 6th day (6th, 12th, 18th, 24th and 30th) of the Gregorian Calendar was a state rest day. The 5 additional national holidays in the earlier 5-day week remained and did not fall on the state rest day.

Because of the radical changes to the USSR calendar during the years demonstrated, this calendar example does not fit with all the date examples given. Refer to the links on the Wikipedia page to see the many calendar examples reflecting the changes. Acknowledging that this is a USSR calendar, and not the Gregorian, the question remains; where is the Saturday 7^th day Sabbath?

But as January, March, May, July, August, October and December have 31 days, the week after the state rest day of the 30th was 7 days long (31st–7th). This extra day was a working day for most or extra holiday for others. Also as February is only 28 or 29 days depending if a leap year or not, the 1st of March was also made a state rest day, although not every enterprise conformed to this.

To clarify, the week after the state rest day, 24/25 February to 1 March, was only 5 or 6 days long, depending if a leap year or not. The week after that, 2 to 6 March, was only 5 days long.

The calendar was abandoned 26 June 1940 and the 7-day week reintroduced the day after.

In December 1931, the Soviets switched to a six-day week in which everyone received the same day off. Although this helped rid the country of the religious Sunday concept and allowed families to spend time together on their day off, it did not increase efficiency.

In 1940, the Soviets restored the seven-day week.

A Conundrum at the International Date Line

There is clear proof that God most definitely did not count His days in accordance with the current IDL. The present IDL does not run in a straight vertical line but rather ZIGZAGS and DEVIATES in order to suit man’s commercial trading and money-making.

Many observers of the Saturday Sabbath observe their Sabbath on the wrong day. Take a look at the zigzag line between Siberia and the Aleutian Islands for example.

When it is Friday sunset in the Aleutian Islands it is actually Saturday sunset in Siberia. Although the Sabbatarians of both regions in fact share the same sunrise and sunset, they do not observe the same day. The DEVIATING INTERNATIONAL DATE LINE causes these Sabbatarians to observe two different days as their Sabbaths - even though as far as God is concerned it is one and the same day - since they share the same sunrise and sunset.

If the IDL ran in a vertical line - without any deviation - then both groups would observe the same DAY and DATE as their Sabbath. But because of this man- made deviation the Sabbatarians in these regions are now observing two different Sabbaths and therefore at least one group is observing the false Sabbath.

Apparently, these man-made changes to the calendar cycles and days seem to be acceptable to Jews, Adventists, and other Saturday keeping Sabbatarians. But it’s the NIMBY (not in my back yard) mentality that keeps them in denial. The attitude seems to prevail that as long as it didn’t or doesn’t happen in my neighborhood, and it doesn’t affect me, then it’s not a problem.

. . . . . .And finally, The World Calendar: A Deception in Waiting

If the Babylonian system of the world has it’s way, a new World Calendar could be adopted in the very near future. The next proposed date to seamlessly implement the World Calendar is January 1, 2012. In the new calendar, there are two blank days each year, which by the middle of 2012, will begin to shift the days of the week from their current positions. The Saturday sabbath as it is known now, will no longer be found in the 7^th day of the week position. The longer the calendar is in effect, the further the day will drift from its current position.

There was a previous attempt to implement this kind of world calendar in 1954. It was vigorously opposed by Saturday Sabbath observers, including Jews, at that time, and was never implemented.

All this seems to be acceptable to the Jews, Adventists and other Sabbatarians who observe Saturday as their Sabbath, but the BLANK DAY S of the WORLD CALENDAR will create havoc in their circles.

Saturday Sabbath observers may be able to keep the blinders on and stay in denial for awhile longer, but sooner or later, this issue is going to rear it’s head and everyone on the planet is going to have to deal with it, one way or another.

The issue of the true 7^th Day Sabbath is at the forefront of the revival of God’s Word going on in the world right now. It’s not in the media; you won’t see it on television; it’s not being discussed much in churches, except to vehemently refute what is presented. But if you take the time to do a bit of digging on the internet, it won’t take long to see what’s happening. It is time for God’s final call to repentance. Will you be found following the Lamb whithersoever He goeth?

Celebrating the New Moon

Scriptures and Thoughts on Observing the New Moon

During the observance of the time of the New Moon there was the blowing of the shofar (ram's horn, or trumpet). Psalm 81:3 reveals to us that not only was it an appointed time and a solemn feast day, but that it was a time of the blowing of the trumpet. "Sound the shofar at the new moon..."

The New Moon was a time dedicated to worshiping God. Ezekiel 46:3 tells us: "The people of the land are also to prostrate themselves in worship before the Lord at the entrance to that gate on the Sabbaths and on the new moons." And in Ezekiel 40:44 we learn: "Outside the inner gate, in the inner courtyard, were rooms for the singers..." The people worshiped and the singers sang.

Observance of the new moon is to be a memorial of God's creation of the heavenly bodies (sun, moon, planets and stars) and, what's more significant, the consequent establishment of His calendar for all mankind. The observance of the New Moon keeps God's people in remembrance of His true calendar and its High Days, month by month.

King David and King Saul kept the New Moon Festival by having a special meal. 1Sam20

New Moon was to be kept by having access to the man of God. Who was the man of God? Had to be the priest or a prophet. Why go to the man of God? I can only assume he was to teach from God's Word and lead the people in prayer. So the New Moon Festival is an opportunity to study and learn from God's Word as well as additional prayer. It is a day of worship, though not a Sabbath. (There is one New Moon during the biblical year that is considered as a Sabbath; it is the 1^st day of the 7^th month, Day of Trumpets.)

"Judaism is based on a lunar calendar. Each month begins with the appearance of a new moon. The first of each new month is an occasion for special prayers and celebration. It is called Rosh Chodesh (the head of the month) and is observed for one or two days. When there are two days of Rosh Chodesh, the first day is the last day of the preceding month. Rosh Chodesh is announced in the synagogue on the preceding Sabbath with a special Prayer for the New Month." (from an article on the Jewish Calendar)

Observation of the New Moon could include extra prayer, extra Bible Study, meditation and a commemorative meal. If possible it could also be observed with a short worship service.

In looking at how the time of the New Moon was observed, we see the following major themes:

· blowing of the shofar

· worship and singing

· sweet incense

· free will offering

· reconciliation for the House of Israel

· mirth

Blowing of the shofar is important because this has an effect in the spirit realm by way of spiritual warfare, whose benefits ought to be pursued. Sweet incense is a type for petitional prayer! We see this from Rev. 5:8: "And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of the saints."

A free will offering today can be money, but it can be an offering of thanksgiving or praise to go along with the time of worship. It can be an offering of a vow (but vows have to be kept, otherwise they are displeasing), or an offering of our personal time.

Reconciliation for the House of Israel can be made by way of intercession which is different from petitional prayer in that intercession is not for yourself, it is on behalf of someone else. And intercession includes identifying with those being interceded for, and travailing for them, and thereby coming to a place of authority before God on their behalf. That is what Yahshua is doing in heaven for us right now (see First John 2:1-2).

Of course, Yahshua is also our sacrifice, and our offering. So, that burnt offerings, drink offerings, meat offerings, peace offerings, sin offerings, and oblations are now replaced by a time of personal confession of sin and of repentance.

Mirth. Going into the House of the Lord with other believers and worshiping and praising is really a celebration. During these times, Israel was commanded to rejoice and be glad before the Lord. It is a command! "Serve the Lord with gladness. Enter his presence with joyful songs." -Psalm 100:2.

Eastern Gate of Heaven Open on the New Moon

In the book of Ezekiel, there is an awesome revelation about the time of the New Moon. In Ezekiel 46:1 we read: "Thus saith The Lord God, the gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut six working days; but on the Sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened." Now the prophet Ezekiel was speaking of what he was seeing in his day in the natural. But we know that the patterns that we see here on earth are types of the real (the heavenly). Moses was to follow the patterns given to him precisely. In Heb. 8:5 we read: "Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount." And in Hebrews 9:24 we see: "For Messiah is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us" This then is the awesome revelation of Ezekiel: that the gates of the inner court of heaven are open at the time of the New Moon!

Deeper meaning of the New Moon

What is the deeper meaning of the time of the New Moon? For one thing, it speaks of favor with God. The New Moon is a time of divine invitation. In the book of Esther, one quickly grasps what a difference the favor of the king makes! Now, what about the favor of the Kings of Kings and Lord of Lords?

In Esther 4:11, we read: "All the kings servants, and the people of the kings provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live..."

And in Esther 5:1-2 we read similarly: "Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood on the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house. And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre."

A Royal Invitation: Favor with YHWH

On the day of the New Moon, we have favor; the heavenly gate of the inner court is open unto us and we can enter in. We have a royal invitation to do so. We need to grasp this one thing: as New Covenant believers we have access to God at any time we choose to seek Him. But in the time of the New Moon, God is seeking to have access to us!

The inner court is no ordinary place. It is a place of glory! It is a place of divine visitation! This is another reason for the new moon day to be considered holy. The “gates are open” during this (holy) time. The gates are closed on the days that are not considered “Holy.”

Look at Ezekiel 10:3-4: "Now the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court. Then the glory of the Lord went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the Lord's glory."

At this appointed time of the New Moon, you are not required to meet with God, though He has ordained this time to meet with you. You will meet with Him at this time for only one reason: that You love him.

Isaiah gives us a clue that the Sabbath and the New Moon will have a special place in our lives in the future;

“And is shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.” Isaiah 66:23

Ellen G White Writings Confirm Biblical Lunar Calendar Sabbaths

Many Seventh Day Adventists today are confronted with two significant controversies regarding the biblical calendar of the “feasts” or appointed times of God, and the 7^th day Sabbath.

There are two primary questions that arise in the current ongoing discussions. First, are the feasts or appointed times of God still in effect and do they apply to us today living in the end times described in scripture?

Which calendar is the 7^th Day Sabbath Really On?

Second, and probably more significant and important, is the question of which calendar the 7^th day Sabbath belongs on. Does it belong on Saturday as it has been kept since about the 4^th century AD, as indicated on the papal gregorian calendar? Or, does the 7^th day Sabbath belong on the biblical calendar of scripture as given at creation, and re-instituted by Moses at the time of the Exodus, as given to Moses by YHWH (God) beginning in Exodus 12?

In this paper, we will deal with only one aspect and fundamental question of this complex tapestry of chronology of God’s word. We will ask the question, Did Ellen G White, Prophet of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, confirm the 7^th day Sabbath on Saturday on the papal gregorian calendar, or did she confirm the 7^th day Sabbath on the biblical calendar dates of the 8^th, 15^th, 22^nd, and 29^th days of each biblical month?

Ellen White's Use of the terms Friday and Saturday

In reference to Ellen White’s use of the words “Saturday” and “Saturday Sabbath,” it appears that she may not have used this terminology for 20 plus years following the advent movement (undetermined). Keep in mind that keeping of Saturday as Sabbath did not occur immediately, for another year or two following the advent movement of 1844, and even then, it was kept erroneously from 6PM to 6PM for about 10 years. It is acknowledged that she used the planetary week name “Friday” interchangeably at times, with the word for the sixth day, which was commonly known and used by the Israelites as “preparation.” She also used the planetary week name “Saturday” on many occasions, at times in reference to Saturday as the Sabbath.. In the context of the time the events of the exodus and crucifixion took place, the word “Friday” and “Saturday” are misplaced and incorrect. In addition, the crucifixion was more likely on what would have been a Wednesday on the Julian calendar, in use during the 1^st century. The question remains; given the apparent contradiction, do we follow Ellen White, or do we follow YHWH’s holy scriptures? You decide.

Now let us look as some examples from the pen of Ellen White that confirms the biblical 7^th day Sabbath days of the 8^th, 15^th, 22^nd, and 29^th days of the biblical month. It is acknowledged here that there may be no direct or indirect references to the 29^th day of the month, but there are references that point to the other 7^th day Sabbaths of the month.

NOTE: In several places in the writings of Ellen White, she used the term “Jewish month,” or “Jewish year.” It should be noted that this is an incorrect reference to the ownership of the lunarsolar calendar set forth in the scriptures. The calendar of scripture is given by YHWH (God) to Moses and the Israelites, and it is His calendar, that was given to the Jewish/Israelite people.

Passover: 14th day of 1^st Biblical Month

"On the fourteenth day of the month at even," the Passover was celebrated on the plains of Jericho. "And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the Passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day. And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan." The long years of their desert wanderings were ended. The feet of Israel were at last treading the Promised Land. {PP 486.2}

These types were fulfilled, not only as to the event, but as to the time. On the fourteenth day of the first Jewish month, the very day and month on which, for fifteen long centuries, the Passover lamb had been slain, Christ, having eaten the Passover with his disciples, instituted that feast which was to commemorate his own death as “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” That same night he was taken by wicked hands, to be crucified and slain. And as the antitype of the wave-sheaf, our Lord was raised from the dead on the third day, “the first-fruits of them that slept,” [1 Corinthians 15:20.] a sample of all the resurrected just, whose “vile body” shall be changed, and “fashioned like unto his glorious body.” [Philippians 3:21.] {GC88 399.2}

Passover and preparation-14^th day of 1^st month, 6^th day of week

Sabbath-15^th day, same as the creation Sabbath

The Lord is no less particular now in regard to his Sabbath, than when he gave the foregoing special directions to the children of Israel. He required them to bake that which they would bake, and seethe (that is, boil) that which they would seethe, on the sixth day, preparatory to the rest of the Sabbath. Those who neglect to make suitable preparation on the sixth day for the Sabbath, violate the fourth commandment, and are transgressors of God's law. {ST, April 15, 1880 par. 3}

That was a never-to-be-forgotten Sabbath to the sorrowing disciples, and also to the priests, rulers, scribes, and people. At the setting of the sun on the evening of the preparation day the trumpets sounded, signifying that the Sabbath had begun. The Passover was observed as it had been for centuries, while He to whom it pointed had been slain by wicked hands, and lay in Joseph's tomb. DA 775

When there shall be a "restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began" (Acts 3:21), the creation Sabbath, the day on which Jesus lay at rest in Joseph's tomb, will still be a day of rest and rejoicing. Heaven and earth will unite in praise, as "from one Sabbath to another" (Isaiah 66:23) the nations of the saved shall bow in joyful worship to God and the Lamb. {DA 769.2-770}

6^th Day Preparation; 7^th day Sabbath

On the sixth day the people gathered two omers for every person. The rulers hastened to acquaint Moses with what had been done. His answer was, "This is that which the Lord hath

said, Tomorrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath unto the Lord: bake that which ye will bake today, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning." They did so, and found that it remained unchanged. "And Moses said, Eat that today; for today is a Sabbath unto the Lord: today ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, in it there shall be none." {PP 295.3}

God requires that His holy day be as sacredly observed now as in the time of Israel. The command given to the Hebrews should be regarded by all Christians as an injunction from Jehovah to them. The day before the Sabbath should be made a day of preparation, that everything may be in readiness for its sacred hours. In no case should our own business be allowed to encroach upon holy time. God has directed that the sick and suffering be cared for; the labor required to make them comfortable is a work of mercy, and no violation of the Sabbath; but all unnecessary work should be avoided. Many carelessly put off till the beginning of the Sabbath little things that might have been done on the day of preparation. This should not be. Work that is neglected until the beginning of the Sabbath should remain undone until it is past. This course might help the memory of these thoughtless ones, and make them careful to do their own work on the six working days. {PP 296.1}

7^th Day Sabbath on 15^th and 22^nd day of Biblical Month

Moses, he said: "Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the Lord seven days: on the first day shall be a Sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a Sabbath. And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm-trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto the Lord seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God." It was to the celebration of this feast that Jesus came.RH Jul 7 1896

NOTE: Twice a year in YHWH’s calendar, the first day of a 7 day feast, or appointed time, is a Sabbath. This is on the 15^th day of the month in each case, the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread in the 1^st month, and the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles in the 7^th month. This is typically thought of as a “high” day or Sabbath. It is the same as the 7^th day Sabbath, not separately a “feast” Sabbath, and should be regarded as such.

On the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from Egypt, the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin; and there "the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron. . . . And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger. {RH, August 30, 1898 par. 3}

"Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily. And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the Lord hath brought you out from the land of Egypt: and in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the Lord; for that he heareth your murmurings against the Lord: and what are we, that ye murmur against us? And Moses said, This shall be, when the Lord shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the Lord heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the Lord." {RH, August 30, 1898 par. 4}

"And in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat. This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents. . . . {RH, August 30, 1898 par. 5}

"And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. And Moses said, Eat that today; for today is a Sabbath unto the Lord: today ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, in it there shall be none. {RH, August 30, 1898 par. 6}

NOTE: Notice the specific day that the Israelites murmured; it was the 15^th day of the second month, the self-same day they came out of Egypt. In the instructions, YHWH says He will give them quail after sundown, then the next day, in the morning, the 16^th day, He would give them manna for 6 days; 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21^st. The next day is the 7^th day Sabbath, and is the 22^nd day of the month. If the 22^nd day of the month is the 7^th day sabbath, then the 15^th is also the 7^th day Sabbath, and likewise, the 8^th and the 29^th.

7^th Day Sabbath confirmed on 8^th Biblical Calendar day of month

According to the observance of the Biblical Calendar every 7th Day-Sabbath falls on the following days of the month: 8^th, 15^th, 22^nd, 29^th. Let's look to our Master Yahshua, as to what He did:

John 12:1 Then Jesus six days before the Passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. John 12:2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. John 12:3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. John 12:4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, John 12:5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? John 12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. John 12:7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.John 12:8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

SIX DAYS BEFORE THE PASSOVER:

PASSOVER = 14th OF THE MONTH OF NISAN

From the 14th we subtract 6 days:

14 - 6 = 8th OF THE MONTH (A SEVENTH-DAY SABBATH)

So according to the gospel of John, Yahshua went to Mary and Martha on the 8th day of the month - A SABBATH DAY, according to the Biblical calendar.

Proof:

The Savior had reached Bethany only six days before the Passover, and according to His custom had sought rest at the home of Lazarus. The crowds of travelers who passed on to the city spread the tidings that He was on His way to Jerusalem, and that He would rest over the Sabbath at Bethany. Among the people there was great enthusiasm. Many flocked to Bethany, some out of sympathy with Jesus, and others from curiosity to see one who had been raised from the dead. {DA 557.3}

Yahshua visited them on the weekly Sabbath!

More proof?

John 12:12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, John 12:13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. John 12:14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, John 12:15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass' colt.

What does Sister Ellen White tell us about this occasion?

It was on the first day of the week that Christ made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Multitudes who had flocked to see Him at Bethany now accompanied Him, eager to witness His reception. Many people were on their way to the city to keep the Passover, and these joined the multitude attending Jesus. All nature seemed to rejoice. The trees were clothed with verdure, and their blossoms shed a delicate fragrance on the air. A new life and joy animated the people. The hope of the new kingdom was again springing up. {DA 569.3}

Note: the first day of this week would have been the 9^th day of the biblical month, the day just prior to the day when the Passover Lamb would have been selected (10^th day), and the Jews would have conspired to kill Yahushua.

7^th day Creation Sabbath confirmed on 15^th day of Biblical month

Note: Passover was always celebrated on the 14^th day of the 1^st biblical month, which was the 6^th day of the week. The day that Yahushua lay in the tomb, the creation Sabbath, is the 15^th day of the biblical month, always a 7^th day Sabbath in scripture.

Receiving New Light in the End Times

"There is to be in the [Seventh-day Adventist] churches a wonderful manifestation of the power of God, but it will not move upon those who have not humbled themselves before the Lord, and opened the door of the heart by confession and repentance. In the manifestation of that power which lightens the earth with the glory of God, they will see only something which in their blindness they think dangerous, something which will arouse their fears, and they will brace themselves to resist it. Because the Lord does not work according to their ideas and expectations they will oppose the work. "Why," they say, "should we not know the Spirit of God, when we have been in the work so many years?"--RH Extra, Dec. 23, 1890. {LDE 209.3} "The third angel's message will not be comprehended, the light which will lighten the earth with its glory will be called a false light, by those who refuse to walk in its advancing glory".--RH May 27, 1890. {LDE 210.1}

It is not God that blinds the eyes of men or hardens their hearts. He sends them light to correct their errors, and to lead them in safe paths; IT IS BY THE REJECTION OF THIS LIGHT THAT THE EYES ARE BLINDED AND THE HEART HARDENED. Often the process is gradual, and almost imperceptible. Light comes to the soul through God's word, through His servants, or by the direct agency of His Spirit; but when ONE RAY OF LIGHT is disregarded, there is a partial benumbing of the spiritual perceptions, and the second revealing of light is less clearly discerned. So the darkness increases, until it is night in the soul." DA 32

Additional Light for God's People

(Written January 18, 1889, from Battle Creek, Michigan to R. A. Underwood)

You seem to be surprised that I look at matters in the light that I do. You speak of the resolution that you thought ought to have passed at the General Conference. What did that resolution comprehend? It virtually said that nothing should be taught in the college but that which had been taught during the past year. . . . {13MR 334.1}

I stated that I was a stockholder and I could not let the resolution pass, that there was to be special light for God's people as they neared the closing scenes of this earth's history. Another angel was to come from heaven with a message, and the whole earth was to be lightened with his glory. It would be impossible for us to state just how this additional light would come. It might come in a very unexpected manner, in a way that would not agree with the ideas that many have conceived. It is not at all unlikely, or contrary to the ways and works of God, to send light to His people in unexpected ways. Would it be right that every avenue should be closed in our school so that the students could not have the benefit of this light? The resolution was not called for.--Letter 22, 1889.

German Museum of Prehistory Confirms Possible

Connection between Moses, Pleiades, Nebra Sky Disk

Is there more to Yahuwah's calendar of scripture than has yet been revealed? A Work in Progress

Possible Connection Found Between Moses Instructions In Exodus 12, the Pleiades, and Recent Archaeological Find

In March of 2010, I "accidentally" stumbled onto what appears to be a connection between Yah's calendar of scripture, the star cluster known as the Pleiades and the Nebra Sky Disk. The Nebra Sky Disk was found near Nebra, Germany in 1999 and may be the oldest archaeological find in history. The artifact has been tested for authenticity, and is estimated to be about 3600 years old. This dates the relic to prior to the time of Moses and the Israelites in Egypt. The Pleiades is mentioned directly three times in scripture, in the book of Job and Amos. (Job 9:9 and 38:31, and Amos 5:8) The difficulty of connecting the Nebra Sky Disk with the Biblical Calendar, is that the disk was found in Germany, and has been authenticated to have been made in and near the area it was found. The odd thing is that the art work on the disk appears to be similar to Mesopotamia art, which would have come from somewhere in the general area where Moses was given the instructions for the biblical calendar.

Eventually, some astronomical questions about the Pleiades surfaced. The astronomical odds of the Pleiades coinciding with the biblical calendar seemed rather remarkable. Nebra Sky Disk

Nebra Connections to the Creator's Biblical Calendar?
As I continued the study of the Nebra Disk and it's possible relation to the Creator's Biblical Calendar, the artwork depicted on the disk began to make more sense when compared to the Biblical Calendar. Some rather interesting "coincidences" presented themselves. I formulated those thoughts and ideas in an email to the folks working on the project in Germany.

Here's the summation of my conclusions that I presented to Rahlf Hansen, Planetarium of Hamburg, and Ralf Bockmann, State Museum of Prehistory, Halle/Saale, Germany:

I'd like to suggest that the large round object on the disk, the one most are calling the sun, may in fact be the moon. Looking at the moon and the Pleiades this month (October 2010) has firmed up this conviction. Here's my reasoning. In the published material, it is indicated that some kind of mixture, which included eggs, was applied to the disk, which made it appear dark and/or purplish, as if it were nighttime. I think this is the first clue.

The other indicators on the disk that suggest it is meant to be viewed at night, are the crescent in conjunction with the Pleiades, which would only be seen after sunset, or theoretically, dark. The second indicator are the three planets, mars, mercury, venues, also suggesting nighttime as one would not be able to see them unless it was dark. The third indicator is what you folks have labeled the "sun boat," at the bottom of the disk. My understanding is that this idea existed in cultures that thought that the sun went "in" at night, and came out again in the morning. Again, this suggests that it would be nighttime when the "sun boat" went in. And if the sun boat is portrayed, why would the sun need to also be portrayed as a full round object?

Now, from another perspective, let's look at the biblical lunisolar calendar. I checked the data for the past 10 years and the next 10 years and the crescent in conjunction or very near the Pleiades in the spring appears to point to the first biblical month of the year, which is usually April-May. There are those that begin the biblical year in March-April but my belief is that this is too early, particularly if the sun has not passed the equinoctial line. The first biblical month can begin in March-April, but as I believe, only when the sun has passed the turning point from winter to spring and the new moon occurs after that.

Note: In looking at the data for the period mentioned above, it also appears that the Pleiades does in fact indicate when a 13th month needs to be inserted, which means that it automatically signals the Metonic cycle to adjust the lunar to the solar year.
So far, from what I can tell in researching the data, the Pleiades in conjunction, or very near the moon, signals the same thing as if to begin the biblical year with the first new moon after the vernal equinox; not before, and not nearest; but after. The data on the Pleiades and the moon seem to confirm that.

Here's the point that really sells me on the idea of the large object on the Nebra disk being the moon. It is the relationship of the full moon and the Pleiades after the turn from summer to fall, after the autumnal equinox. This point is 6 months from the time that the Pleiades and the crescent appear in the spring. It is also the 7th biblical month, if the 1st month was started at the right time. I see this appearance of the full moon with the Pleiades as both a sign that the 1st biblical month was begun correctly, and also a confirmation of when the first biblical month will begin in the following spring.

Also, I found some information regarding German history and the moon festivals. Here's a clip of text; "The old non-agricultural Germans observed the new moon and the full moon as religious festivals (Tacitus Germania II). This sounds to me like it might have some connection to the Nebra Sky disk art, and possibly support the idea that the full round object on the disk is the moon and not the sun.

sorry for letting you wait a while. I think you are generally right with what you have been writing to us, and it does not generally contradict with what Rahlf Hansen and others have been saying. In fact, also in our publications the round object on the disc is interpreted as the full moon, not the sun, at least for the early stages.

The position of the crescent moon on the disc in relation to the Pleiades corresponds with their disappearance in March as it could be seen in central Germany around 1600 BC. The appearance of the full moon with the Pleiades on the other hand could be seen in October.

Both occurrences are indeed important for the agricultural year and have been used as markers of season basically long into the modern period in Europe, as Wolfhard Schlosser has been pointing out. Rahlf Hansen's reconstruction of the function of the first stage disc as a tool to memorize how to combine the lunar and solar calendars according to similar rules known from the ancient middle and near east has taken the whole interpretation of the original sky disc further.

Only in later stages, the horizon arcs were added indicating the use of the disc to observe the sun, and even later the symbol interpreted as "sun barque" in analogy to finds from the Bronze Age of Northern Europe has been added, indicating a change in the underlying philosophy and probably also in function of the disc. Altogether, it must have been used for several hundreds of years, and it does indeed depict knowledge that can be traced back to the early Neolithic.

I do not find it surprising to learn from you about the similarities with the biblical calendar, because the knowledge of using the night sky to measure time is attested in the region where the bible originates at very early times already and is of a very basic nature.

There is one important point though: We have to take into consideration that the Nebra Sky Disc has been produced in Europe about 3600 years ago and was surely made to work in exactly that environment. That is why Mr. Schlosser has reconstructed the night sky of that time, which corresponds with the months that I have mentioned above. But, in general, your idea is the same.

So, I think your thoughts on the round object being the moon in the original composition of the sky disc, and its importance in relation to the Pleiades, are quite right and correspond with what Wolfhard Schlosser and Rahlf Hansen have published.

Summary~Conclusions
Does the Pleiades play a role in the Creator's Biblical Calendar? There are certainly some coincidences that should not be overlooked. Since we do not have clear evidence from scripture pinpointing the Pleiades within the framework of the Biblical Calendar, no assumptions should be made. There is still a need to verify the connections to see if they prove out over a period of time, and more importantly, historically. One of the difficulties in pursuing this issue is that there seems to be a lack of historical references to the Pleiades as it may relate to the Biblical Calendar. The fact does remain though, that there are three direct references to the Pleiades in scripture, and we should not just casually ignore their presence. We just need to determine Yah's reason for their mention.

9th Month Yah's Calendar Dec-Jan 2010-2011

There were some minor changes made this month in constructing the calendar. Two items have been incorporated into construction of Yah's calendar; one is restoring the use of Jerusalem as the center of the beginnings of the calendar, and the other has to do with assuring that the full moon occurs on the 15th of the month, the 2nd Sabbath. There is historical evidence that the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread and the Feast of Tabernacles occurred on the full moon, the 15th day of the month and sabbath. The question is then asked, why doesn't the full moon fall on the 15th day, the 2nd Sabbath all the time? If the month is started correctly, then they should. Months have 29 or 30 days alternately to compensate for the 29.53 day lunar cycle. So the 15th day should be more or less exactly in the middle of the month, on the 15th day. The Moon and The Pleiades Sail Together Through the Starry Night

The Moon and the Pleiades sailed across the night sky all night last night, Oct 24, from moon rise to moon set. The moon lead the procession only slightly and they were separated by only 2-3 degrees or so, as they traveled from the eastern horizon to the west horizon.

They can be seen in close company again tonight, October 25, as the Pleiades leads the way, but they will be separated by about 7 degrees.

After tonight, they distance themselves from each other and won't be seen together in very close company until spring of next year at the beginning month of the biblical year.

What About the Beginning of Yahuwah’s Biblical Year

Is the Level Horned Crescent seen in the northern hemisphere the sign for the whole world for the beginning of the biblical year?

The Level Horned Crescent Theory

There is a theory circulating among some of those seeking the truth of Yahuwah, that the level horned crescent is the signal for the beginning of the biblical year in the spring. Is the level horned crescent the signal, and is it the truth? Let’s examine a little further.

What Causes the Level Horned Crescent?

In the northern hemisphere, in the latitudes that most of the populace resides, there is a point at which the days and nights become of approximate equal length. This point is generally around latitude 35 deg North or so. Above or below this latitude, the lengths of day and night will fluctuate by some minutes and hours, and eventually days.

Around this latitude of 35 deg North, March 16 is the day that the days and nights are about the same in length. This is the day that the first visible crescent (if it were seen on this day) would appear almost perfectly horizontal or level, with both horns pointing up. The equal day and night formula is the only thing that causes the horned crescent to appear level, meaning that the sun is directly under the moon at sunset. If the visible crescent moon were to appear on March 16, directly over the setting sun, it would for all intent and purpose, be exactly horizontal or level.

What does the Level Horned Crescent mean?

The only reason that this sign is taken to mean something, is that it generally coincides with the new moon nearest the vernal equinox, usually March 21/22. (This reckoning, nearest the vernal equinox, is used by many to determine the beginning of the year on Yahuwah’s calendar, but is it the correct method?) It is not the proximity to the equinox that causes the moon to appear level or horizontal. It is the proximity to the day when the when the length of the day and night are equal, around March 16 at latitude 35 deg North.

Testing the theory by changing latitudes

What happens in the southern hemisphere when we have the beginning of the biblical year in spring in the northern hemisphere? Is the signal of the level horned crescent the same “down under?”

Since I reside in the USA and generally have my focus there, lets look at a latitude in the southern hemisphere that generally corresponds with my longitude. I chose Santiago, Chile, which is only generally similar in longitude, but more closely related in latitude, since it is located at 33 deg South approx. This puts it about the same position in the southern hemisphere corresponding to my latitude in the northern hemisphere. (Although I am actually just north of 29 deg North in Apalachicola Florida)

But the question is, what is happening in Santiago when we are having spring? If you remember your science from high school, you’ll remember that Santiago, i.e. the southern hemisphere, is experiencing the shifting into the fall season, as we are entering into the spring season. So what does this do to the theory of the level horned crescent.

As you can see, when we are entering the spring in the northern hemisphere and see a level horned crescent here, it is not the same in the southern hemisphere. In the fall in the southern hemisphere, the visible crescent at the new moon appears as it does in the 7^th month in the northern hemisphere. The only difference is that it is a “MIRROR IMAGE,” appearing in the reverse image of what it appears here in the 7^th month. You can tell as the moon is illuminated from the opposite side that it is in the northern hemisphere.

In the fall in the southern hemisphere, the visible crescent nearest the autumnal equinox appears as a level horned crescent, similar to how it appears in the spring in the northern hemisphere.

Is the “level horned crescent” the signal for the beginning of Yahuwah’s biblical year for the WHOLE world?

Given the variations and appearances in the astronomy between the northern and southern hemisphere, and the opposing scenarios of the visible crescent moon, the question has to be asked;

Is the visible crescent moon, nearest the vernal equinox, in the northern hemisphere, appearing as a level horned crescent, the signal for the WHOLE world to begin the biblical year as Yahuwah ordained?

Personally, I don’t believe this is the sign, but I will leave that for you to decide.

And here’s one more question for you to ponder. Does the biblical year begin in the southern hemisphere when we begin it in the northern hemisphere? Or does it begin in their spring? This question rises of course, because the level horned crescent sign is not the same for them.

Introduction

This article discusses the possible involvement of the Pleiades in the determination of Yahuwah’s calendar of scripture for the beginning of the biblical year in the spring. It also questions the astronomical odds of this event happening not once, but twice each year.

Astronomical Odds

What are the odds of the moon and the Pleiades appearing near each other, not once, but twice a year, exactly six months apart?

And if that is not enough to boggle your thinking, what are the odds of it happening twice a year, then a third time in the second or third year to indicate the need for a 13^th month? Let’s have a closer look. There are some very remarkable characteristics about the Pleiades, considering the astronomy, but first some background.

The Pleiades in the Holy Bible

We find the Pleiades mentioned only twice in Yahuwah’s Holy Scriptures in the book of Job. It makes it seem almost insignificant, considering it’s lack of notoriety. So, with barely a mention, does the Pleiades have any significance to us today.

A Connection between Moses and the Pleiades

Astronomy of the moon and the Pleiades

The astronomy of the Pleiades confirms a particular aspect that seems more than just coincidental to Yah’s Calendar in the heavens. Our moon and the Pleiades make an appearance together, that is in close proximity to each other, twice a year. This happens once in the spring and again in the fall, 6 months apart.

Pleiades and the visible crescent moon in the spring

In the spring, the new visible crescent moon is seen in conjunction or close proximity to the Pleiades in what strongly suggests the first month of the biblical year. They are seen traveling, seemingly together, shortly after the appearance of the first visible crescent, usually 2-3 days following the conjunction, as the moon is setting in the western sky, just after sunset. This is true whether you are in the northern, or southern, hemispheres.

Pleiades and the full Moon in the fall

In the fall, the full moon is seen in conjunction or close proximity to the Pleiades, exactly 6 months later, or in the 7^th month of the biblical calendar. This is a confirmation that the year was begun at the correct time. If you see this event, and you are not in the 7^th month of the biblical calendar, you may have begun the year prematurely, placing you in the 6^th month in your calculated calendar. Appearance of the moon and the Pleiades together in the fall of the year also gives you a reckoning point to know when the 1^st month of the next year will begin. It’s a win-win situation in both cases.

Pleiades confirms beginning and middle of Yah’s calendar year

If you begin the biblical year a month too early, you will find that by the time you reach the 7^th month on your calendar, you will not see the moon and the Pleaides rise together in alignment. This is because you are probably in the 6^th month of the year and not the 7^th.

When the full moon rises near and in alignment with the Pleiades, it confirms and signals two events. First, it confirms that your calendar is in the correct 7^th month of the calendar.

Second, it should give you the signal for the beginning of the 1^st month of the next year, 177 days from the new moon of the 7^th month. Either way, the appearance of the Pleiades in close alignment with the moon signals and confirms the beginning and middle of the year on Yah’s calendar. And it does that from any place on earth. It is not location specific or limiting.

Astronomical Odds of the moon and the Pleiades appearing together

Now for some astronomical odds about the Pleiades. Science tell us that the Pleiades is approximately 379 light years from earth. In other words, IF we could travel at the speed of light, it would take 379 years to get there. A little too far to begin a journey considering our short lifespan. The website www.wolframalpha.com puts the distance at 2.2 quadrillion miles.

Here’s some excerpted text (with slight editing) about our galaxy and the Pleiades from a paper by Clifton Emahiser:

Our Galaxy

“There are at least thirty billion stars in this one galaxy, which is shaped like a biconvex lens. Our own sun is one of the minor stars in this system, and its position is about 2/3rds of the way out toward one edge of the galaxy. We are some 30,000 light years away from the center of the galaxy.

Since one light year is about 5,870,000,000,000 miles, our distance from the center of the galaxy, being 30,000 times farther, is more than one sextillion miles. In numerals it is 1,761 followed by 15 zeros. The entire galaxy, this vast lens shaped mass of stars, rotates around its collective center of gravity, the whole galaxy making one rotation in about 200 million years.

The Pleiades

The center of gravity of the galaxy is marked by the star Alcyone, which is the brightest star in the star cluster known as the Pleiades. Considering that this is nearly two sextillion miles away from us, it isn’t easy to get acquainted with it. Our knowledge on the subject came within the lifetime of men still alive. It is amazing, but in Job 38:31 Yahweh asks Job, ‘ Canst thou bind the sweet influence of Pleiades?' Yes, it is a sweet influence, for it keeps us on our course so we don't wander aimlessly through space until we collide with some mighty solar system. It is also worth noting that the Hebrew word for Pleiades, is kee-maw, which also means pivot or hinge.

Scientists indicate that the Pleiades appear to be moving through space, yet never going anywhere. Moving, but not going anywhere. How could that happen? Recently I questioned how this could occur and believe I may have stumbled on an answer.

Imagine a line from your eyes, looking not just at, but straight through and past the Pleiades, to the far side of the visible galaxy or universe, which science also tells us is rotating.

If the Pleaides is stationary (for purposes of demonstration) then the backdrop of the visible universe would not only appear to be moving, it would make the Pleiades appear to be moving against the backdrop. Hence the effect of the Pleiades seeming to move, but never going anywhere. It may be a little difficult at first to wrap your mind around that, but it does make sense.

Summary and conclusion

The distance between earth and the Pleiades is approximately 379 light years, or about 2 sextillion miles.

The Pleiades appears to be moving through space, turning as it would seem, as the hub of our known universe.

Yet, twice a year, our moon, a little over 2 quadrillion miles from the Pleiades mysteriously lines up with the Pleiades twice a year, six months apart.

This alignment of the moon and the Pleiades simply has to be more than coincidental, as it happens not once, but twice a year.

And now it appears that it also lines up a third time in alternate second and third years to signal the need to adjust the lunisolar year with an extra month.

What Are The Odds?

Given the astronomical facts of vast proportions and distances, what are the odds of this alignment happening right on schedule with Yahuwah’s calendar?

I’ll leave that for you to ponder. It certainly is a testament to the grandeur and order of Yahuwah.

The Pleiades Confirms Yahuwah's Calendar of the Heavens

When the full moon rises in the evenings of Oct 24th and 25th, the 17th and 18th days of the 7th month on Yah's calendar this year, it will be in close proximity to the Pleaides, signaling confirmation of the 7th month. This closeness of the full moon and the Pleiades did not occur in Sept-Oct, the 6th month of the biblical year, although some calendar followers celebrated the 7th month at that time.

The Pleaides signaled that a 13th month needed to be inserted in March-April of 2010,... thus confirming that April-May would be the first month of this year. If the year began in April-May, then Oct-Nov would be the 7th month, which we are in now.

The moon will rise about 15 minutes slightly ahead and to the upper right of the Pleiades on the evening of the 24th , and slightly behind and to the lower left of the Pleiades by about 15 minutes on the evening of the 25th.

It will take your eyes awhile to adjust to the night sky and you may not be able to see the Pleiades immediately upon rising, but you should be able to see it by about 9PM Eastern Time. Binoculars may be effective in helping to locate the Pleaides before you actually see the star cluster.

Fasting and the Day of Atonement: It May Not Be What You Think!

If you believe fasting from food is the only command regarding the Day of Atonement, the linked study will open your eyes. Yahuwah desires so much more for us. As the Day of Atonement draws closer this year, I anticipate learning more about what Yahuwah desires for us in our relationship with Him. He is ever faithful to bring new insights when I am open and receptive to them.
Over the last couple of days, He has brought a study before me that caused me to reexamine my preconceived ideas and opinions of what I thought was meant by the Day of Atonement and particularly fasting on that day, which scripture appears to command. I quickly learned it was not what is presented and what I thought at all. In addition to overturning my thinking and believing, it is about so much more.

Tossing out the Writings of Ellen White: Returning to Egypt

If you are a Seventh Day Adventist, or former SDA, and you have adopted the sunrise reckoning of the day, and daylight hours only for the Sabbath, you may have essentially fulfilled some of the end time prophecies of Ellen White. Ellen White told us that in the last days, near the end, that her writings, for all practical purposes, would be made void. The description of that fulfillment is found in the following quotes:

The very last deception of Satan will be to make of none effect the testimony of the Spirit of God. "Where there is no vision, the people perish" (Proverbs 29:18). Satan will work ingeniously, in different ways and through different agencies, to unsettle the confidence of God's remnant people in the true testimony. He will bring in spurious visions to mislead, and will mingle the false with the true, and so disgust people that they will regard everything that bears the name of visions as a species of fanaticism; but honest souls, by contrasting false and true, will be enabled to distinguish between them. {10MR 311.1} (Ellen White's writings are often referred to as the Testimony of the Spirit of God. They are meant to enhance or confirm the words of scripture.)

One of the most blatant references in the writings of Ellen White that show this distinction and fulfillment, has to do with the events surrounding the crucifixion of our saviour Yahushua. It is found in the following quote:

"That was a never-to-be-forgotten Sabbath to the sorrowing disciples, and also to the priests, rulers, scribes, and people. At the setting of the sun on the evening of the preparation day the trumpets sounded, signifying that the Sabbath had begun." (Desire of Ages 775)

"From even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath." Said the angel: "Take the word of God, read it, understand, and ye cannot err. Read carefully, and ye shall there find what even is, and when it is. I asked the angel if the frown of God had been upon His people for commencing the Sabbath as they had. I was directed back to the first rise of the Sabbath, and followed the people of God up to this time, but did not see that the Lord was displeased, or frowned upon them. I inquired why it had been thus, that at this late day we must change the time of commencing the Sabbath. Said the angel: "Ye shall understand, but not yet, not yet." Said the angel: "If light come, and that light is set aside or rejected, then comes condemnation and the frown of God; but before the light comes, there is no sin, for there is no light for them to reject." I saw that it was in the minds of some that the Lord had shown that the Sabbath commenced at six o'clock, when I had only seen that it commenced at "even," and it was inferred that even was at six. I saw that the servants of God must draw together, press together.

It is clear in the above statements, that the Sabbath (as well as all other days) begins at sunset. The statements support what has been observed for centuries by the Hebrews, albeit intermittent at times.

There are several implications, or problems when dealing with the statements above.

1. Sabbath, and all other biblical days begin at sunset, or Ellen White is wrong.

2. If Ellen White is wrong, and it's possible, then does this make her invalid as a prophet?

3. In any case, if she was accurate in this statement, and we disregard it's intended meaning, what have we done to her stature as a prophet? What have we done to the meanings of her words? And to the words of scripture? We may be on unholy or dangerous ground if we disregard, or even slightly twist the words and meanings to make them fit what we believe or want to believe.

In order to reckon the day by the rising of the sun, and observe the sabbath for only the daylight hours, we have to have TOTAL DISREGARD for the writings of Ellen White. We cannot pick and choose, using one principle here, another there, and tossing out what we don't like because it doesn't fit our framework of belief or thinking.

The Egyptians appear to have historically swapped the halves of the day, daylight, then darkness, instead of what appears to be the biblical reckoning of the day; darkness then daylight. So one has to ask; by using the sunrise reckoning of the day, beginning the day at sunrise, and observing the daylight hours only for the Sabbath, have we returned to EGYPT?

I admit the possibility that I could be wrong about this. If that proves to be the case, I will stand immediately corrected. In the meantime, Unless something absolutely concrete and without question surfaces, I will choose the path of least error. I will keep the hours that appear to be bibilically correct, sunset to sunset for the sabbath. I will observe the full 24 hour day as the sabbath until clear correction is made.

I'm keeping the part of the day sunrisers are anyhow, and one thing that I don't want to do, is to shortchange God on time and not be present when He has arranged to meet with me at a specifically appointed time.

(NOTE: Many verses in scripture are presented to "prove" the sunrise reckoning of the day. Most, if not all, are verses that can be interpreted in both ways; either sunrise reckoning or sunset reckoning. Because a verse can be interpreted in both ways, it does not make one position or the other valid unless the position can be supported by corroborating evidence.)

The Different Ends of the 14th Day of the Biblical Month

There are two different Hebrew terms used to define the ends of the 14th day of the Biblical Month. These terms are found in Exodus 12:6 and Exodus 12:18. The first term is "between the evenings" and logically appears at the beginning of the 24 hour period of the 14th day. The other term is "even" or "at even" and appears to define the end of the 24 hour period, at the end of the 14th day and the beginning of the 15th day. These terms only fit logically in a sunset reckoning to begin the 24 hour day. When they are used in a sunrise reckoning of the day, they force events and chronology to be placed in awkward places in time, and force other events out of their proper time. Below is a graphic illustration of where the terms should be, both in the sunset reckoning and the sunrise reckoning. Notice that in a sunrise reckoning, the events cannot be harmonized with scripture.

The Conflict of Sunrise Reckoning of the Day and Exodus 12

A Challenge to the Sunrise Reckoning of the day

Exodus 12:6 and 12:18 appear to present a conflict when viewed through the sunrise reckoning of the day. These verses point to a specific point in time and at specific events.

Both points in time occur on the fourteenth day of the month, at even, or between the evenings. In the sunrise reckoning of the day, there is only one point in time that these verses can occur. That point in time is at the end of the daylight period of the 14th day, beginning the evening and night period.

I believe the difficulty in reconciling this scenario is caused by a misunderstanding or lack understanding of the phrase "between the evenings." This phrase occurs about half a dozen times in OT scripture at very key points of understanding. If you do not have an understanding of "between the evenings," this may be where you need to begin examining this dilemma.

If you believe this challenge to be in error, please feel free to challenge this material. I remain open to learning if this conflict can be resolved by scripture.

Why Two Passovers in a Sunrise Reckoning of the Biblical Day

Many Lunar Sabbatarians today have or are adopting the reckoning of the Biblical Day that begins at sunrise. In addition, many of those observe 12 hours for Shabbat, instead of the 24 hours that many of us have been taught. Which is correct? Does the scriptural day begin at sunrise or sunset? Is Shabbat to be observed for 12 hours or 24? Does night come before day, or is it the other way around?

The chronology surrounding the Passover, Exodus, and the Crucifixion may provide some answers as to how the Biblical day should be reckoned. At the least, the timing and chronology of the events point out some unavoidable problems with sunrise reckoning.

In the end, there are some chronology problems that happen with the sunrise reckoning that simply cannot be ignored.

Where Does Exodus 12:18 fit in the Biblical Feast Calendar?

Exodus 12:18 presents a bit of a conumdrum for those who reckon the biblical day by sunrise. This verse points to a particular place in time in the biblical feast chronology, specifically the point of transition between the 14th day and the 15th day. It says, "......on the fourteenth day at even."

With a sunrise reckoning of the day, you only have one "even" and it is in the middle of the 24 hour period of the day, at the end of the daylight period, at sunset. Theoretically, Ex 12:18 should go at the end of the 14th day, but there is no "EVEN" at the end of the day, as it leads into dawn and sunrise.

This methodology of reckoning the day forces Exodus 12:18 to be placed at the only other logical place in time, at sunset in the middle of the sunrise reckoned day. Since this is the point in time when the traditional Rabbinic Passover is held, it forces two separate festal events to occur at the same time, or overlap.

Listed below are the observations and problems encountered between Exodus 12:18 and a sunrise reckoning of the day:

Ex 12:18 has nothing to do with the Feast of ULB except to define the beginning point at the end of the 14th day.

There is no scriptural command or support for Yahushua’s Passover with disciples on the 13th.

Traditional Rabbinic Passover and Feast of ULB cannot be merged into the same time period at the beginning of the evening on the 14th. Unfortunately, this is the only solution in a sunrise model of the day. And it is the problem of the 1st Century CE.

It needs to be understood that at the time of Yahushua’s Passover and Crucifixion, Passover and the Feast of ULB had been convoluted and merged, thereby presenting confusion in sorting out which was which, when one ended and the other began. John 18:28 is the most extreme example of this, indicated by the fact that it appears to contradict the other 3 gospel accounts of the events of the 14th day. This is also noted in Deu 16.

All commands for the Feast of ULB are on the 15th or the beginning of the 15th; not on the night of the 14th. This includes the removal of leaven from homes.

In a sunset model of the day, all of the events of the Passover and Crucifixion occur on the 14th day, according to scripture. This is impossible in a sunrise model of the day. There is no scriptural command or support for any of these events to occur on any other day.

In a sunset model of the day, there is an “even” at each end of the day, allowing for the proper timing and placement of events described in scripture.

In a sunrise model, there is only one “even” in a 24 hour day, in the middle of the 24 hour period, forcing certain events to be relocated.

Here's some observations and questions to challenge your mental stewpot

I have read many papers, studied and looked at scripture over and over, and kept asking questions. What is the justification for sunrise reckoning of the day? And more importantly, what is the basis and support for sunrise sabbath and observance for only the daylight portion of the day, approximately 12 hours? Are there some things that are getting overlooked? The following are some observations and questions I have developed as I have looked at the account of Genesis 1 and 2, again and again.

"Sunrisers" hereafter refers to those holding a sunrise reckoning of the day, and daylight hours only observance of the Sabbath.

When I read a paper or study on the sunrise position of reckoning the day, usually the first thing I notice is a definition from Strong's Concordance:

Invariably, this seems to be the definition most "sunrisers" are relying on. But is it accurate? You might be interested to know that I have found Strong's to be the only place that I can find that definition at this point. If you have another source, I would sure like to see it. So if there is only one witness with this definition, is it accurate? And what is the source of Strong's information to formulate this definition?

Here's the observations and questions to tickle your mental palate:

How many days are in creation week?

What is the length of those days during creation week?

If one believes in the 7 literal days of creations, then those days must be approximately 24 hours. If there are 7 days (whole units) in the creation week, what is the justification and scriptural support for redefining the "day" in Genesis as only 12 hours? (Particularly on the first 3 days when the sun was not yet appointed.)

What is the length of the 7th day in creation week?

If it is not 24 hours, what is the scriptural support for redefining it into another time period in Gensis? (12 hours)

What is the definition of day in the creation week?

Strong's Definition: from an unused root meaning to be hot; a day (as the warm hours)

This is usually the first, and sometimes only, definition that those of the sunrise persuasion quote. Why is a definition used that could not have existed on the 1st day of creation?

What day was the sun "made" or activated during creation week?

This question of the definition of day has to be defined on day ONE, not on day FOUR. One cannot simply redefine a day into 12 hours without support or confirmation from scripture.

What does evening and morning mean on the 1st day of creation week, when no sun or moon was made/activated?

What is the meaning of day on the 1st day of creation week, when there was no sun and moon in play?

What is the scriptural support for 1/14th?

There are biblical principles for 1/10th, and 1/7th, (ten or seven). If the Sabbath is only 12 hours of daylight on the 7th day, (1/14th of a week) what is the biblical principle and support for 1/14th?

Recent studies about the cycle of 7 (septacircans) within the human body are very interesting. If this is a divine principle by design, what happens to our mind, body, and soul if we are not in harmony with that cycle?

Here's a hypothetical question to consider:

According to sunrise reckoning, and daylight only observance of Sabbath, how would you know when to observe Sabbath if it was on one of the first three days of creation? Evening and morning existed, but no sunrise or sunset. (Remember, this is just hypothetical to make a point)

In an era where we have Organizers, GPS and radio controlled clocks it is difficult to imagine the difficulties encountered in early times to regulate their calendar. In those days the rhythms of the heavens were used to regulate time: the Sun provided the days and the years, the Moon provided the months and the weeks. Farmers need a solar calendar that shows the seasons. The narrow crescent evening Moon, known as the First Crescent, indicates the beginning of a new month just as the Islamic calendar still does today. But how does one reconcile the lunar year with the solar year, which is 11 days longer? In earlier times, this was done by introducing leap months.

We know of just such a rule from the Babylonian Cuneiform mul-apin text. If the First Crescent appears by the Seven Sisters star cluster, the Pleiades, during the spring month, in which the year begins, then this is a normal year. If, however, during this month the Moon does not appear in the Pleiades until the third day, it forms a wider crescent – a signal that a leap month must be added. It is exactly this phenomenon that is encrypted on the Star Disc. The width of the lunar crescent on the Star Disc corresponds to the Babylonian leap signal. On the first phase of the Star Disc are depicted the crescent, the golden circle, the seven point rosette and 25 additional golden points numbering 32 in total. The rosette is taken to represent the Pleiades. By interpreting the depiction as a record of an intercalary rule we’re not only explaining the width of the lunar Crescent but also providing an explanation for the number 32 and the meaning of the golden circle. The lunar month is 29.5 days long. If a leap month has to be added, the Moon will not appear in the Pleiades in its First Crescent phase but two days later with a wider crescent. In this case, 32 days must elapse from the previous First Crescent Moon. The 32 points on the Disc can thus be interpreted as the 32 days that elapse between the previous First Crescent Moon and the Moon appearing by the Pleiades in the spring month. As a leap signal, these 32 days are just as equally valid as the width of the lunar crescent. The leap signal is therefore doubly encoded on the Star Disc:

1.) If a Moon Crescent having the thickness of the depicted crescent appears by the Pleiades in the Spring month, then this is a leap trigger.

2.) If 32 days elapse from the First Crescent of the previous month (before the spring month) until the Moon in the spring month, then this is a leap trigger.

But the number 32 also has another meaning, linking the solar and lunar calendars. In 32 solar years, 33 lunar years elapse. If we interpret the golden disc as the Sun, then the 32 points are related to the Sun and we deduce the 32 solar years. If we also count the golden disc, then we get a total of 33. This refers to the Moon, the only remaining object on the disc, and so we get 33 lunar years.

In Prof. Schlosser’s current interpretations, that have been extended and not contradicted in this text, the golden disc is interpreted as the Full Moon. Here it is also interpreted as the Sun. Sun OR Moon? The answer is Sun AND Moon. This is elaborated on in a further text. 3600 years ago the Pleiades disappeared in the dusk 12 days before the onset of Spring. If, ideally, the First Crescent Moon appears by the Pleiades on the last day of their visibility, then the Full Moon and the start of Spring coincide. The Full Moon in the Spring Month then signals the start of Spring and with it, in many cultures, the start of the new year. The Full Moon thus symbolizes the new solar year. Therefore the golden disc can be interpreted as the Full Moon in the Spring month AND as the Sun.

So here we have an astoundingly complex and nested design. On the one hand, the 32 golden points encode the leap signal of the 32 days to the Moon-Pleiades positioning. As well as symbolizing both the Full Moon by the Pleiades in Autumn (Schlosser’s interpretation) and the Full Moon in the Spring month at the beginning of Spring, the golden disc also symbolizes the Sun in relation to the 32 golden points representing solar years, and the Sun in relation to the start of the solar year at the Spring Full Moon. Via its width, the lunar crescent near the Pleiades (the rosette) directly indicates the leap signal and, together with the 32 golden points and the golden disc, symbolizes the 33 lunar years, that correspond to the 32 solar ones. The rosette representing the Pleiades shows, as Schlosser explained, exact dates in Spring (with the Crescent Moon) and in Autumn (with the Full Moon). And on the other hand, it triggers, together with the wide lunar crescent, the leap signal in the lunar calendar.

This interpretation explains the number of golden points, the meaning of the golden disc, the width of the lunar crescent and why the lunar crescent is larger than the golden disc. If the Star Disc was used as a pictorial comparison of the width of the real Crescent Moon in the Spring month by the Pleiades, then the latter is the deciding object on the Disc and was made bigger than the golden disc.

In an era when no numerical intercalary rules were yet available, any celestial observations would have needed to reconcile the lunar and solar motions. The calendar was only regulated by these observations. In its time, this knowledge was very beneficial and can be considered as the Bronze Age hi-tech know-how. An obsession with such complexities need not astound us.

Whether this knowledge emerged locally or from as far a field as Mesopotamia, remains open. The clues on the encrypted world view and the rosette shape mentioned earlier however do not exclude a possible Mesopotamian origin and are in fact supported by this interpretation.

This calendation has always been used to pinpoint the feast days or appointed times, but it is coming to light that the 7th day Sabbath also is pinpointed on this calendar.

Do the Moon Phases Signal the Lunar Sabbaths

The Moon Phases May Not Always Appear As They Seem

Anyone who studies the Hebrew lunar-solar calendar and particularly the 7th day Sabbaths on that calendar eventually comes face to face with the idea that the moon phases line up perfectly on the day or evening before the Sabbaths. Is this the case? Can the moon phases always be counted on to signal the Sabbath with any degree of certainty?

The theory says that the first quarter waxing moon appears with 50% illumination on the evening before the first Sabbath on the 8th of the month. Secondly, the full moon appears with 100% illumination on the at the end of the 14th daylight to signal the Sabbath of the 15th day of the month. And finally, the 3rd quarter waning moon shows 50% illumination on the evening before the Sabbath of the 22nd day of the month. Conjunction happens generally on the 29th day of the month in a 29 day month, but on 30th day in a 30 day month.

If one plots out the times of the phases in a linear manner, it can easily be seen that the phases do not always line up. As a matter of fact, their alignment from week to week is irregular to say the least. Granted, there are some irregularities that come with this kind of graphing, particularly when it does not include the time of the day the astronomical phase. This anomaly can distort the line of consistency to some degree.

Three methods for reckoning the beginning of the months have been shown to show comparisons between reckonings. The first column represents the method that signals the new visible crescent as the 1st day of the new month. The second column represents using the sunset following the conjunction as the first day of the new month. And in the last column, the 2nd day of the month (1st day of the week) is begun when the new visible crescent is seen.

This project focuses on an evening to evening reckoning of the day, but for the purposes of this work, should not be a hindrance to demonstrating the intent.

The lunar orbit of the moon takes approximately 29.5 days to travel from it's invisible beginning, to return to its recurring appointment with the sun, in which it again becomes a shadowy figure, as it lies too close to alignment with the sun to be seen.

If we are following the calendar of scripture, ordained by our God Yahweh, it is essential to observe the moon so that we know where we are on His calendar.

Throughout the month though, there are unmistakable signs of where the moon is, in its planetary path. We can know to the day, what day of the lunar month it is, simply by observing the moon, and its position in the sky.

New Moon Visible Crescent and the Pleiades April 16, 2010

The new lunar crescent on April 16 2010 and it's visual proximity to the Pleiades, signaled the first month of the biblical year 2010-2011. A similar scene was also seen on March 20 2010 when the moon and its' visual relationship to the Pleiades signaled the need for the insertion of a 13th month for last year. The need for the 13th month was also signaled by the new moon for the 13th month occurring before the turn of the year from winter to spring on March 20 2010. Although the Pleiades appears very similar to the little dipper (Ursa Minor), it is not. The little dipper was high in the sky to the north at the same time this scene took place.

Moses, the Pleiades, and the Nebra Sky Disk

What did Moses see, and when did he see it?

Before the Exodus

Somewhere deep in the heart of the Nile Delta in Egypt, around the mid 1400’s BC, the Israelites were about to gain their freedom after 430 years of captivity, as slaves to the Egyptians. It is approaching the time in bible and world history known as “The Exodus.”

Just prior to the exodus, God gave Moses some instructions. In Exodus 12:2, God said to Moses, "You are to begin your calendar with this month; it will be the first month of the year for you.” (CJB) We know this to be the spring of the year, at the time of the Passover, as the very next instructions were the preparation for, and the participation in, what would become a memorial for all time. This first month of the biblical year was known as Abib, meaning “green ears” or the time of the spring barley harvest. God’s instruction to Moses begs the question, what did God show to Moses to indicate the beginning of the biblical year?

Beginning of the biblical year

What did God mean when He said, “You are to begin your calendar this month?” Obviously He demonstrated or showed Moses something, and the question since that time, about 3500 years ago is, what did God show to Moses so that he could reckon the first month of the biblical year? Not only reckon it at that time; but to possibly reckon it for all time. Since then, the moon has played an important role in God’s sacred calendar. Not only has the moon played a part, but the sun and the stars as well. The heavenly bodies are each figured into God’s calendar and set times. Whether they are called seasons, mo’ed’s, appointed times, feasts, or holy days, they are all set forth by the celestial bodies.

Elements of God’s calendar in the heavens

God said, "Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to divide the day from the night; let them be for signs, seasons, days and years; and let them be for lights in the dome of the sky to give light to the earth"; and that is how it was. God made the two great lights — the larger light to rule the day and the smaller light to rule the night — and the stars. Gen 1:14-16

How the months of the calendar are reckoned

For thousands of years, those following the biblical calendar have reckoned their months by the moon, and the years by the sun. Usually the month is begun following the first sighting of the visible crescent moon. The first day is celebrated as new moon day, then the 6 work days, followed by the 7th day sabbath. According to the criteria given throughout scripture, Sabbaths can be found on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th days of the month, following the new moon. Then the cycle begins again. Over the millennia, all calendars have undergone corruption and aberration. The 7th day sabbath has been celebrated by Jews and other Sabbathkeepers on the Roman Saturday since early Christianity, and certainly by the 4thcentury when the Jewish calendar was set in stone so to speak. The corruption of the calendars is a subject for another time. No matter what man has done to the calendars over the millennia, God is about to set it right. The original calendar of scripture is being restored to its rightful place.

Standards for reckoning the beginning of the year

In the paragraph above, we discussed the beginning of each month, but what about the first month of the year? Since scripture talks about the month of Abib, or green ears, one standard is held to be the barley harvest, when the barley has matured enough for the “wave sheaf” celebration on the 16th day of the first month, the day of the resurrection of Christ.

The other standards, which are more widely held today, is the visible crescent moon in relationship to the vernal equinox; meaning the point at which the sun crosses the equinoctial line, and the days begin growing longer, and the nights shorter. At about the moment of the equinox, the days and nights are equal length.

One standard says the new moon nearest the equinox; the other standard says the new moon after the equinox. With these two standards, each side is right some of the time, and one side is right all the time, depending on which side you’re on. About half of the time, the new moon nearest the vernal equinox falls on the side after the equinox, so that puts that group in harmony with the other group. Then there is the standard that says Passover cannot fall before the vernal equinox. In other words, it’s a mess, and it has gone on for hundreds of years, each camp saying the other camp is wrong. So is there truth to be found in any of this mess? Is the moon and its relationship to the equinox the final arbiter of the beginning of the year? Let’s explore a little further to see.

The Equinox is not as it appears

Let’s throw a “monkey wrench” in here. We’ll plug in another factor that isn’t often considered. When the instructions were given to Moses in about 1446BC (still disputed), the vernal equinox was in a different place in the heavens at the start of the biblical year than it is now. In other words, when the sun crossed the equinoctial line in the heavens, it was in Aries. But it is not there today. Josephus, the noted historian tells us that the sun was in Aries at the time of the Passover in biblical times. So we know from history and scripture that at the time of the exodus, the sun and the visible crescent moon were in Aries, or that section of the heavens that has been labeled as Aries. It was still in the same relationship at the time of Christ. This is in the first month of spring, and the beginning of the biblical year.

Let me suggest a caveat in at this point. If you rely on the information from astrologers and the mainstream informational pundits, to tell you where the sun is in the heavens when it crosses the equinox, you’re in trouble. The astrological prevaricators will tell you that the first sign on the spring side of the equinox is Aries. And 3500 years ago, they would be right; but not today. By the time the sun and the moon arrive in Aries today, the vernal equinoctial line is in Pisces, or the place in the heavens that astrologers have assigned to it. The equinox used to arrive in Aries around Mar 20 or 21. Today it doesn’t arrive in Aries until April 18th. It’s a shifting process called “precession of the equinox.” It’s what accounts for the wobble of the earth on its axis causing the equinox to drift backward in time. So the equinox is not the likely candidate to permanently reckon the beginning of the year.

This image shows the backward drift, or “precession” of the equinoxes. This affects both equinoxes and solstices, shifting these imaginary boundaries in the heavens out of place from their original locations. Currently, the vernal equinox has drifted backward into Pisces, and almost into Aquarius. Instead of the sun being in Aries when spring comes, it is in Pisces. The vernal equinox does not arrive in Aries with the sun until April 18th.

What about “…and the stars?”

It was about this time during my research that I realized that most of the focus of the celestial bodies of God’s calendar is on the sun and the moon. I started asking what the role of the stars is in the calendar. “. . . the larger light to rule the day and the smaller light to rule the night — and the stars.” But what were we doing to include the stars in the reckoning? It was like we were leaving out a third of the equation or formula. In reality, all three of the heavenly objects should be included in the calendar.

The Pleiades

When I started looking at this dilemma, I suspected there had to be something else that Moses would have seen, in addition to the visible crescent moon. And sure enough there is. In the Redshift astronomy program, I set the program to look at the evening sky at the time of the exodus, the first month and spring of the year, to see if I could see what Moses saw. It wasn’t until I unplugged everything else that wasn’t there at the time of Moses, that I saw what I believe he saw. When Moses looked at the sky at that time, he didn’t know about the “astrological” signs, and all the other aberrations man has assigned. Granted there are references to celestial signs in scripture, i.e. Orion, Pleiades, and Arcturas, etc. But there were none of the labels of man’s reckoning as we see today. If Moses wrote the book of Job, as some suggest he did, most definitely he would have known about these particular stars and their places in the sky.

It didn’t take long to discover what I was fairly certain Moses saw. But I had to test the theory. So I began looking at the same time every year, by looking first for the new moon, then the visible crescent after the equinox. I used the new moon after the equinox as I believe the sun, as well as the moon, has to be fully out of winter in order to begin the New Year. The days must be longer than the nights. I believe this study will eventually bear that out. By the time I advanced the sun and the moon into Aries in the astronomy program, there it was; what I had been looking for. It was the Pleiades, in close proximity to the crescent moon. Now I needed to test the theory a little more and every time it has held up. At a point around the time of the first visible crescent after the equinox, the moon arrived in the vicinity of the Pleiades. It was the kind of evidence I was looking for. And so far, it appears that the same thing happens every year, in the first month of spring. So far, I’ve checked the last 10 years for starters and the Pleiades and the new crescent moon keep company usually around the end of March and into mid-April.

The Character of the Pleiades:
Now you see it; now you don’t

The Pleiades, also known as the "seven sisters," lies near the ecliptic plane of the sun, moon and the planets in the heavens. All of the celestial objects that travel in the ecliptic plane pass near the Pleiades at some point during the year.

The Pleiades is not visible all year; but it is visible when it is supposed to be, and needed for confirmation. The Pleiades is actually what is known as a star cluster, with 6 of the 7 main stars visible to the naked eye at various times. It looks very much like a “little dipper.” The most prominent star in the cluster is Alcyone, one of the seven sisters in Greek mythology, which is the third brightest star in Taurus. The remaining stars of the "seven sisters'' are Electra, Celaeno, Taygeta, Maia, Merope, and Asterope, some of which form a big dipper pattern with other bright stars in the cluster, making it easy to recognize.

Visibility of the Pleiades varies throughout the year. The Pleiades start to rise in the night sky in June, just before sunrise, and they begin to rise a little earlier each morning afterwards. They are best viewed in December, when they rise as the sun is setting, and then set at sunrise, allowing them to be seen throughout the entire night. As the winter progresses, they begin to rise a bit later after sunset. By March and mid-April, you can only see them for a short time setting in the West, just after sunset. Since the Pleiades are located in the sign of Taurus, they are too close to the sun to be visible during May, when the sun is also in the same sign. On a clear night the unaided eye can usually spot at least six of the brightest stars in the cluster, but it actually consists of hundreds of stars.

What role do the Pleiades play in the heavens?

It seems to be somewhat commonly known that the Pleiades signaled the time of planting in the spring, and the time to harvest in the fall. So it makes sense that it would be visible with the new crescent at the beginning of the year in spring. Not only is it visible with the crescent in the spring to signal the beginning of the planting season, it is also visible in the 7th month of the biblical year, the harvest season, when it is a full moon; i.e. “harvest moon.” I’m convinced that one of the reasons that night watches were held in ancient times is that someone could observe and record what was happening with the moon and the stars at night.

Almost all ancient cultures watched and had a name for Pleiades, usually associated with agriculture and moisture/rainfall. The ancients knew this cluster as the "rainy stars" because their rising heralded the beginning of autumn and the onset of the rainy season in many parts of the world. Inca farmers watched Pleiades to assess future crops. Early Greek seamen knew them as the "sailing stars" and would only sail when the stars were visible at night. One of the Navajos' names for the group is the "Hard Flint Boys," and Subaru is the Japanese name for Pleiades (note the Subaru logo).

Where is the Pleiades anyway?

It depends on the time of year. Pleiades lies near the ecliptic (the path of the sun). Around the first of November it will be rising in the east (about where the sun did) just at twilight. In early February the Hard Flint Boys will be directly overhead at twilight. By early May they'll be setting just at twilight, ahead of Orion. During May and early June Pleiades is absent from the sky--it can't be seen because it's too close to the sun. Then it appears (and remains) as a morning star until November. Between November and May watch for the Hard Flint Boys dancing and scuffling along the ecliptic.

Finding the Pleiades in the night sky

Pleiades can be a little hard to see, and to many it appears as a small cloud. Its appearance varies from night to night depending on atmospheric viewing conditions. Sometimes, when conditions are good, you can see all the 'Seven Sisters' twinkling. First find Orion's Belt--the three stars, close together, in a straight line. Then following the indicated line in the figure below, passing just below Aldebaran, as it points to Pleiades. The figure below is Orion and Pleiades when they're high overhead.

The crescent’s last crossing of the Pleiades till 2023

The Pleiades and the crescent moon made a spectacular showing in the evening sky on Saturday March 20, 2010, when the moon occulted (moved in front of) some of the stars in the Pleiades cluster. Normally, only in close proximity, the moon does occasionally move in front of part of the cluster. It’s quite a sight. We won’t see that occultation again for another 13 years, till 2023.

Note: Although it is reported that this is the last occultation of the moon across the Pleiades until 2023, some astronomy sites and articles are reporting that a similar scenario will occur on April 16, 2010. Only visual observation will confirm this predicted scenario.

This is an image from the astronomy program Stellarium (free at Sourceforge) on the night of March 20, 2010 when the moon occulted the Pleiades. Notice that it strongly resembles the little dipper. This image is as you would see from earth. If you rotate the image 90 degrees left, you will see the same image that is represented on the Nebra Sky Disk.

The Nebra Sky Disk

While researching the relationship of the new crescent moon and the Pleiades, I inadvertently learned of a relatively new celestial reckoning device of sorts that was discovered around 1999, quite by accident. A couple of treasure hunters in the vicinity of Nebra, Germany, found the disk and several other ancient and valuable artifacts with the help of metal detectors. They tried to make off with their loot, and fence it for profit. But as luck would have it, authorities caught up with them and retrieved the disk. No one knew for sure what they had when they recovered it.

The disk has been tested, deciphered, validated, and proven that it is authentic in terms of age and composition. It is estimated to have been buried around 1600BC, and it may have originated as far back as 1700-2100 BC. It is said to be at least 3600 years old. It may well be the oldest calendar or astronomical artifact known to date. This is the easy part.

What is not so easy is the interpretation of exactly what the disk shows. Even though it has been examined for 10 years now, it is still highly controversial as to its full intended meaning. One thing I noticed in reading several papers, articles and reviews, is that the authenticators seem to be missing a piece from their understanding, consideration and reviews. That piece is God’s sacred calendar of scripture. This is where it gets really interesting.

The main areas of dispute seem to be that the markings appear that they should be from Egypt or Mesopotamia. But the artifact was found in Germany. Researchers state that Germany would not have followed a celestial reckoning such as this. The materials have been authenticated to have originated locally, meaning that the device was probably not made or fabricated in Egypt or Mesopotamia and brought to Germany. It remains somewhat of a mystery even today.

Some of the parts are fairly easily identified, and agreed upon. One that seems to be agreed on is the crescent, and the group of stars to the upper left of the crescent, which most scientists and researchers have identified as the Pleiades. One of the main disputes is over what the round object is on the left. Some say it is the sun, some say it is the moon. It appears to be inconclusive to some if the portrayal is daytime or nighttime.

The disc was originally smeared with rotten eggs. These would have caused a chemical reaction on its bronze surface, which would have turned the disc's background a deep violet color simulating a night sky out of which the gold-embossed stars would have shone.

Elements of the Nebra Sky Disk

Some authenticators and researchers insist that the round object to the left of center labeled sun is in fact the sun. Because of that, it is said the device is probably only valid as a marker for a solar eclipse as indicated.

Others say the round object is the moon, but seem to be without further explanation.

Since I am not an authority in such matters, I will not attempt to dispute what researchers, deciphering experts, and others have said. I will simply give my opinion based on how I see this device fitting into the overall picture of God’s sacred calendar.

I won’t deal with the planets shown near the crescent except to say when you set the astronomy program to the parameters given, i.e. April 16, 1699BC; those planets are part of the heavenly picture.

I agree that the crescent is in fact the crescent, and that the Pleiades are as shown. What is interesting is the relationship between the two. To demonstrate this point, here’s an image from an astronomy program taken on the evening of Saturday March 20 2010. It clearly demonstrates what the Nebra Sky Disk is showing.

This image is from Redshift Astronomy program and is taken on March 20 2010 about 2130 hours. This would be about the time the moon passed in front of the Pleiades. What is most astounding about the crescent and the Pleiades on the disk, is that that at least one researcher says that it is portrayed in the position as it would be seen if a 13th month would need to be intercalated. This image is as you would see it from earth. If you rotate the image 90 degrees counter-clockwise, you will see the image as it is represented on the disk. Interestingly, this biblical year, 2009-2010 needed a 13th month inserted. Notice the similarity between the astronomy program image and the representation on the disk. Whether it is true in the end remains to be seen. But it does seem to be a little more than coincidental.

It is at this juncture the point needs to be made or at least mentioned. The fact that the disk may suggest the insertion of a 13th month, and this year a 13th month needed to be inserted, it has to be considered that the beginning of the year is affirmed to start after the vernal equinox, and not before. In the end, this evidence could serve to eliminate the confusion of multiple Passovers, and whether the year should be started with the new moon nearest the vernal equinox. The equinox seems to have drifted out of the picture.

As far as the identity of the other object, I believe it is the moon; the full moon, and here’s why. If the disk portrays the crescent moon and the Pleiades, then it has to be considered that it is at least after sunset, and probably dark or nighttime. That being the case, why would not the other object be representative of nighttime? I also believe its position in relationship to the Pleiades is portraying what it might appear like in the harvest season. Again, it seems to be a bit more than just coincidence to not have some merit. (See image below)

Harvest Moon and the Pleiades in the 7^th month

Here’s an image from Redshift astronomy program for October 25 2010, as it would appear from earth. This would be about the 18th day of the 7th biblical month in 2010, following the harvest season of scripture. Note the relationship of the round object to the Pleiades similar to how it is shown on the Nebra Sky disk. This is why I suspect that the round object on the disk may be the moon and not the sun.

This is the “sign” for the beginning of the biblical year

Here’s an approximation of how the moon will appear in proximity to the Pleiades on the night of April 16, 2010, at about 2130 Hrs. The moon will be approximately 20 degrees above the horizon at 8:50PM, about 45 min after sunset. The Pleiades will be just above that by approx 2 degrees or so. You should be able to see the Pleiades without the aid of binoculars, but have them for a more spectacular sight

For those that observe the new moon nearest the vernal equinox, or the bowl crescent level with horizon as the beginning of the biblical year, a problem is presented in that the moon is nowhere near the Pleiades on the evening of the visible crescent. It is still in Pisces on the night of 16th and possibly into Aries on the night of the 17th. The moon did not arrive in the vicinity of the Pleiades until the evening of March 20 2010 when it passed across (occulted) the front of some of the stars in the Pleiades. It was at this time that the moon, in relationship to the Pleiades, as shown on the Nebra Sky Disk, indicated that a 13th month needed to be inserted into the biblical year.

What did Moses see in the sky just before the Exodus?

This image from Redshift Astronomy program shows an approximation of what the sky might have looked like on April 9 1446 BC from the approximate location in Egypt where the Israelites were slaves. Time and date are approximate and the sun has been left shown to show the relationship of the sun, moon and Pleiades. It is only an estimation of visibility as the moon is only a little over 5 degrees above the horizon which means limited visibility. Note the relationship of the moon and the Pleiades.

Conclusions

Astronomy programs have confirmed the occurrence of this annual event for the last decade, as well as the next, including various points in history.

When Moses looked at the sky at the time of God’s instructions, the Pleiades were in the sky, in close proximity to the visible crescent. (see earlier image)

The Pleiades appears annually in close proximity to the visible crescent moon, just after sunset, in the spring, at the beginning of the first biblical month.
The Pleiades, in harmony with the visible crescent, must be considered as visual evidence for the beginning month of the year.

The vernal equinox has shifted backwards through the heavens to no longer be valid as a reference point for the biblical new moon to begin the New Year.

The beginning of the biblical year in the spring must be considered as being fully after the vernal equinox, when the sun and the moon are in Aries and the crescent moon is in proximity to the Pleiades.

Visual observations need to be confirmed, but the beginning of the biblical year should be considered when the visible crescent and the visible Pleiades are in close proximity, but a month later when indicated that a 13th month should be inserted.

The Nebra Sky Disk confirms the validity of the use of the Pleiades in the visual sighting for the beginning of the biblical year.

Since the Nebra Sky Disk predates the time of the calendar given to Moses, the barley harvest has to be considered as secondary to obvious hard evidence i.e. the Pleiades; otherwise as confirmation.

The Nebra Sky Disk, even with its controversies, presents coincidences with the calendar of scripture to not be considered as valid for review and possible use.

And finally, isn’t it just like God to use a heavenly marker like a cluster of “seven” stars to lead us in His way? What other symbolism will we discover waiting for us here?

The Problem with Precession and the Beginning of the Biblical Year

This is a challenge to those that begin their biblical year with the first visible crescent moon nearest the vernal equinox. Using the nearest reckoning, if the new moon is prior to the vernal equinox, it will cause celebration of Passover a month earlier than those that use the visible crescent moon following the vernal equinox. It could also cause a problem by failing to recognize that a 13^th month needs to be inserted in the luni-solar calendar. This early start to the biblical year is also problematic to those using the bowl crescent moon, or the new crescent that appears level with the horizon, with the horns of the moon being equidistant on the sides. Part of the time, the bowl crescent appears before the vernal equinox. This situation exists in the month and year this is written, March 2010. Repeated inquiries to those using the bowl crescent have failed to produce scripturally based answers.

The purpose for this paper is to address the problem of “precession of the equinoxes”, as it relates to the beginning of the biblical year. The equinox, or equinoctial line in the heavens is the point of time in the year when the days and nights are equal, and the days begin getting longer, and the nights shorter. Over the millennia, the equinox has drifted backward in time, and is no longer where it used to be. The most profound impact of this precession is that the stars do not appear in the heavens where you think they are, in relation to the equinox. Astrologers and related informational resources will not tell you any different; they simply are lying or they are deluded.

At the time of Moses, the sun, moon, and vernal equinox were in the constellation Aries. (See first image labeled April 1446BC). 1446BC is one of the suggested years of the Exodus. Notice the point of the vernal equinox at the intersection of the sun's ecliptic and equatorial meridian, indicated by the two small "v's." Notice also that they all are coincidentally in what would be April-May. In reality, the equinox was originally in Taurus, at the time of Abraham, and probably back to the time of creation. It moved from Taurus into Aries in about the year 1865BC. The use of astronomy programs will verify this information within reason.

When the calendar instructions were given to Moses just prior to the Exodus, all celestial references in the heavens were where they were supposed to be. But it is interesting to see what has happened since the time of Moses.

At the time of Christ’s crucifixion, in April 31AD, nearly 1500 years after Moses and the Exodus, the equinox had drifted backward to a point just slightly out of Aries, into Pisces. (See image No 2 April 31AD). Notice that by the time the sun and moon arrive in Aries, past the vernal equinox, it is clearly April (April-May) and not March. This data is confirmed by USNO and other sources that the Passover/crucifixion occurred in April 31AD, and not March as some Jewish sources indicate. The noted Jewish historian Josephus tells us that when Passover was observed at the time of Christ, that the sun was in Aries.

Where is the vernal equinox today?

Let's move our celestial magnifying glass to the current day, and look first at March 16 2010, on the day of the sighting of the crescent, when this new year is said by some to have begun. You will notice first of all that everything is out of alignment from where we think it should be. And the sun is still 4 days short of the vernal equinox. What is most noticeable is that the vernal equinox has now drifted all the way through Pisces and nearly into Aquarius. Notice that the sun and the moon are not in Aries to begin the year, where it is said they should be. At the time of the new moon nearest the vernal equinox, they are in Pisces. (See image 3 March 16 2010).

Now, let's have a look at where the sun and moon are when they do enter Aries for the beginning of the upcoming biblical year. Contrary to what most astrological forecasters and related websites and other sources say, Aries doesn't begin following the day of the vernal equinox. It's simply untrue. Astrologers continue to tell you that Aries is right after the vernal equinox, and is the period of time from March 21 to April 20. Nothing could be further from the truth. The equinox has now drifted so far back that it does not enter Aries until April 18. Notice in the image that the moon has already moved beyond conjunction, indicating that conjunction is a few days earlier (April 14) than the day the sun actually enters Aries. This means that at the time of conjunction, the new moon for the beginning of the biblical year has now moved out of Aries, where it should be, and into Taurus. It has been suggested that not only should the sun be in Aries, but also the moon. I have seen this idea referenced in other documents, although not many. (See Image No. 4 April 18 2010).

There are many questions that arise because of the precession of the equinoxes.

Should we be starting the biblical new year in Pisces at the new moon nearest the vernal equinox?
Should we be starting the new year at the sign of the level or bowl crescent, which is clearly in Pisces at the time it appears?
Should we delay beginning the new year until the sun and moon are in the sign of Aries? (Josephus and others)
Beginning the new year when the sun and moon are in Aries means using the new moon after the vernal equinox.
What part does the constellation Aries have to do with the beginning of the year?
It has been suggested that Passover should always be in Aries, as evidenced by historical references.
Should the beginning of the year also be in Aries; meaning not only the sun is in Aries, but also the moon.
Are we out of alignment with scripture with one or the other beginnings?

Remember that Yah said several times in His word that He would do something to make man forget all his feast days and Sabbaths! What should we do in order to "follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth?"

It's a great conversation starter: "What's your sign?"
But before you ask or answer that question, consider this: your zodiac sign corresponds to the position of the sun relative to constellations as they appeared over 2200 years ago!
The science behind astrology may have its roots in astronomy but don’t confuse these two disciplines. Astronomy can explain the position of the stars in the sky but it’s up to you to determine what, if anything, their alignment signifies.

The Constellations of the Zodiac

The ecliptic, or the position of the Sun as it’s perceived from the revolving Earth, passes through the constellations that formed the Zodiac - Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Zodiac signs were originally determined by which constellation the Sun was "in" on the day you were born.

Early astronomers observed the Sun traveling through the signs of the Zodiac in the course of one year, spending about a month in each. Thus, they calculated that each constellation extends 30 degrees across the ecliptic.

However, a phenomenon called precession has altered the position of the constellations we see today.

Precession and Astrology

The first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere was once marked by the zero point of the Zodiac. Astronomers call this the vernal equinox and it occurs as the ecliptic and celestial equator intersect.

Around 600 BCE, the zero point was in Aries and was called the "first point of Aries." (Figure 1) The constellation Aries encompassed the first 30 degrees of the ecliptic; from 30 to 60 degrees was Taurus; from 60 to 90 degrees was Gemini; and so on for all twelve constellations of the Zodiac.

Figure 2. If you were born between March 21 and April 19, your astrological sign is said to be Aries. But this was only true for a while, back when the system was set up in 600 BC. Today, the Sun is no longer within the constellation of Aries during much of that period. From March 11 to April 18, the Sun is actually in the constellation of Pisces!

Unbeknownst to the ancient astrologers, the Earth continually wobbles around its axis in a 25,800-year cycle. This wobble—called precession—is caused by the gravitational attraction of the Moon on Earth's equatorial bulge.

Over the past two-and-a-half millennia, this wobble has caused the intersection point between the celestial equator and the ecliptic to move west along the ecliptic by 36 degrees, or almost exactly one-tenth of the way around. This means that the signs have slipped one-tenth—or almost one whole month—of the way around the sky to the west, relative to the stars beyond.

For instance, those born between March 21 and April 19 consider themselves to be Aries. Today, the Sun is no longer within the constellation of Aries during much of that period. From March 11 to April 18, the Sun is actually in the constellation of Pisces! (Figure 2) See also Figure 3, which demonstrates the precession of the equinoxes from 600 BCE to 2600.

Your "Real Sign"

The table below lists the dates when the Sun is actually within the astronomical constellations of the Zodiac, according to modern constellation boundaries and corrected for precession (these dates can vary a day from year to year).

You will most likely find that once precession is taken into account, your zodiac sign is different. And if you were born between November 29 and December 17, your sign is actually one you never saw in the newspaper: you are an Ophiuchus! The eliptic passes through the constellation of Ophiuchus after Scorpius.
Now you really have something cool with which to start that conversation!
