Fasting and The Day of AtonementS

Fasting and The Day of AtonementS

Fasting on The Day of Atonement: Is it a command of Torah, or scripture? Or is it simply another man made tradition? Is there more than meets the eye?

I have personally fasted on this holy day. Many people do. It is what I learned from what someone else told me. Didn't give it a thought until about a year ago when I ran across a very clear study on the subject, while participating in a discussion on the subject.

"On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonements; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble your souls and present an offering by fire to IAUA." Lev 23:27

Tuesday evening at sunset, September 25, 2012, begins the 24 hours period of The Day of Atonements. On that special day, a most important feast, or appointed time, of IAUA, many people around the world will be fasting. That is, not eating for the entire day, or 24 hour period. Is this a command of scripture? Are these the instructions given to us by IAUA?

I'd like to share with you the study I discovered not too long ago, that may shed some different light on the subject. I'd invite you to read and study it for yourself, and see what you think. You may come away with a different conclusion.

Please feel free to share your thoughts afterward.

7th Month Tishri Sep-Oct 2012-2013

This month begins with the noted "Feast of Trumpets" or "Day of Trumpets," (Rosh Hashanah) one of the most significant months of appointed times or feasts on IAUA's calendar.

New Moon Day, and Day of Trumpets begins at sundown September 16th, and completes at sundown September 17th.

New moon Day, and 7th day Shabbats are on gregorian mondays this month.

In Israel, Daylight Savings Time will also come to an end this month on Sunday, September 23rd. Daylight Savings Time does not start and end at the same times throughout the world. For instance, DST will not end in the USA until Sunday November 4th.You can check out the beginning and ending of DST for various countries of the world at www.timeanddate.com

Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) occurs on gregorian Sept 25-26, beginning at sundown Sept 25, and ending at sundown Sept 26.

Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) begins at sundown Sept 30th, and ends at sundown, the end of the day at sunset on Oct 7th.

May you each have a blessed month as we all continue to seek IAUA's truth.

3rd Month Sivan (May-June) 2012-2013

Notes regarding Pentecost and why you don't see it on this calendar as expected.

Some of you that usually celebrate Pentecost in the 3rd month, either on the 6th day or 9th day of the 3rd month will notice that it is absent from this calendar.

This is due to the recent discovery and the author's conviction that the count to Pentecost has been erroneously interpreted.

For the previous posts on this blog regarding a new understanding of the count, please use the blog search box and look for "pentecost." You will find several pieces dealing with this subject.

Below are some of the links to previous pieces on Pentecost.

The Greatest Want of the World is . . . . . . . .

The greatest want of the world is the want of men, --men who will not be bought or sold; men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name; men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.

430th Anniversary of the Gregorian Calendar

February 24, 2012
430th anniversary of the decree of the papal Gregorian calendar

Exo 12:41  And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.

At the end of 430 years of CAPTIVITY to a calendar that was not their own, the Israelites were freed from captivity in Egypt.

Have we been captive to a calendar that is not our own, for the last 430 years?
